for me, all i did today was take pictures of my newly cut front bumper.

I think they only make black, red, and white. But you can order a kit and mix your own if you have spray equipment.
Also clear and a new "smoke" color
Finally got to drive it around a bit after putting in the new head. It's still running hot though. :(
From my build thread

JY skid and 15$ eBay hooks

Replaced the windshield washer pump...easier than I thought it'd be.

From the picture it looks like there is only one bolt per hook going through the bumper... I know I wouldn't use that as a recovery point.

I'm sure the skid plate isn't completely useless.... It's gotta be worth the 20$ I paid for it

Where should I mount them? The bumper mount only had 1 hole or I would have used 2 bolts

Should I drill another hole?

Watched a kid in a lowered Honda do the same at a car meet. He haunched the car about 30ft past the first median, then almost into a semi over the second. The wheels were jammed up into the wheel wells.
I had mud caked in my tires and it all flew off when I landed leaving about 60 feet of mud tracks after the median.

So you wont drive across it at 50 mph at 2 am.
Probably right... its was sure one hell of a way to learn!

I feel like your bumper would start to warp if you tried to use it as a recovery point. Either that or your tow hooks would rip out. I would get some recovery hooks that mount directly to the uni-body. Seems a lot safer :2thumbsup:
I guess there going to be for looks for now :-/
New shocks and a new steering stabliizer put on sat. After the time I had with the stabilizer i needed a couple days to recuperate. Shocks were no problem. Took a two jaw gear puller and a torch to get the stablizer out after I found out a pinion fork and sledgehammer wouldn't !

Those are going to become missiles if you get stuck and use them for recovery
I don't get stuck ;)

You need to use proper tie in brackets or that tow hook will become a missile.
The stock bumper is like tin and held onto the tin unibody by only 3 small bolts.

Rusty's

C4x4

Or find a set from a JY.

You need to tie into the frame or you will destroy your bumper and possibly kill someone.

What about when your buddy gets stuck then?

On a full frame vehicle attaching a tow hook with BOTH bolts is fine.
On the Unibody XJ, you need more.

This was the info I was looking for! Thank you!
