seriously, one of these threads needs to stay alive in the XJ/MJ section and what better time to get a real one going then now with the creation of the XJ/MJ GD. now, lets keep this going.

for me, all i did today was take pictures of my newly cut front bumper.

picture a few posts down.

HA!
Well if you sit still with the engine running for a while, and get a head ache, feel tired, pass out or start vomiting ....
- then you'll know you exhaust pipe is TOO SHORT
- (CO poisoning)
not really worried about it...

I did have an odd thing happen today, any time I was under power on the fwy, IE climbing a hill, the blend doors changed and all of the air (a/c full blast) went out through the defrost vents. as soon as I crested said hill, or let off the gas and reduced power it went back.

not sure why.

also, I have a coolant leak somewhere. I can smell it in the cab, although its not overheating. I am thinking heater core.
I PB Blasted all of my nuts and bolts as I anxiously await for my lift to arrive.
Far more so than you see with CJs and Wranglers.

You need to get out more then.

Mines short like that! And I started Getting light headed after hitting a rock and making it shorter. Time for a down pipe!!
Hitch wasn't too hard to get on. But adding the skid plate was not gonna happen
Attaching the rear hitch solo is one of the most enraging things ever. On your back, feet and shins holding the maddog thing all while trying to keep the nutsert still, thread in a bolt and not drop it on your face. Adding the OEM tank skid just enhances the pleasure.

I've done it twice and hope to never do it again. I can feel the rage returning as I type this.
Stupid question:

Do you need to buy the nutsert in order to install just the hitch? My XJ had a hitch on it when I bought it, and I'm installing a hitch on my buddy's 2000 XJ soon. It came with nuts, square washers and bolts.

Just figured I'd ask before it is apart in his driveway.

if he doesn't have the factory nustrips then you will pull the rear bumper and fish those square washers and nuts into the frame from the rear with a piece of wire.

not too hard.

Okay thanks! There is a piece of wire that has a spring on the end included with the hardware so I figured that was the case. Just wanted to make sure before we started on the project.
Took my girlfriend and son out Jeepin'. Didn't break anything, and dragged this big tree off the trail.

Remounted the bumpstop on the rear passenger side because the undercoating was dry and cured.
Not a damn thing.

Turns out drinking til 5 am and sleeping for two hours before heading to the shop doesn't work well for a productive day.

i left my bumper on, no big problems
raised my shock mounts with a set of polyperformance mounts.

looking at 4" of up 5" of down in the shocks and that angle gives me about 6"up, 7" down in the tire.
I need longer shocks.

Wheeled it pretty hard thru an obstacle course at a Mud Drag, Tough Truck, Tractor Pull Redneck Bonanza called Wheels a Churnin'

National 4WD sponsored the obstacle course event.

Didn't place, DNF either - 3 stucks, but tested out the new leaf packs and placed around 6th of 11. My class was 37 and under, so at 33's and open/open, I had some pretty stiff competition.

Nice, very nice
I've always wanted to get rid of the low-hanging mounts!

Got any more pics of the process?
How much work was it?
Are you using stock top mounts?

more pics?

it was pretty simple. I used a set of polyperformance shock mounts, cut the factory mounts off with a cutoff wheel, and welded these on. I am using the stock uppers.

the plan is to go through the floor with a set of 7100s later on. but these will work for now.
