seriously, one of these threads needs to stay alive in the XJ/MJ section and what better time to get a real one going then now with the creation of the XJ/MJ GD. now, lets keep this going.

for me, all i did today was take pictures of my newly cut front bumper.

In the tire debate, I am seriously considering Dick Cepek Mud Country. I have heard really good reviews about them.

Personally, I have had great luck with the Gen2 BFG Mud Terrains which were on my 88XJ.

As far as today, I drove my XJ to work for the first time. :) Runs like a champ so far. See how it does after the first full tank of fuel has been ran thru it.

I think the Dick Cepeks are overpriced for what they are. You are paying for the name. Same with Mickey Thompson, they should have just stuck with drag radials and racing wheels.

The BFG KM2s are a good tire, and the Duratracs are also a good tire. I'm not a Goodyear fan mainly because I have friends who work there and they tell me about the corporate issues, but the Duratrac is a very respectable tire.

Every company has corporate issues, it just business. The bigger they are the more issues. But the do make a great product and the duratrac is surprisingly well priced.
I have the Goodyear Duratracs and they did just as well my buddies BFG KM2s. The Duratracs are quieter on the road too.
I've heard good things about the Duras but ive heard the KM2's suck in the mud... Never ran them though

All we have here is mud they were pretty much equal. Only got stuck in the deepest hole and that might have been cuz the axles were getting hung up in deep ruts.
I put in a new water pump and thermostat in my 91 xj last weekend. And the weekend before that me and my bro build a front bumper and put on glass pack on her
installed the PSC big bore steering box, and high-performance P-Pump. had to make new lines, and get a longer belt (6" longer).

my jeep now steers easier and more precise than any other vehicle on the road. I have driven quite a few and am confident in saying this.
Luckyyyy

Have you wheeled with it yet? Youre on 33s right? locked f/r? Thinking of adding assist?
I heard allot of good and bad about the km2s, even if they might be better I have experience with them so I trust them, I did want mtr Kevlar's looked at them amd allot of reviews said the Kevlar breaks down at 20k and they go to ****
....lol

The kevlar has nothing to do with the tread of the tire, its in the sidewall.

The MTRs wore great on road, i had almost 20k on my first set, still had more than %50 tread.

Duratracs dont perform as well as the KM2 in any offroad situation. The sidewalls on the duratracs are VERY weak.
Nothing directly but my replacement phone came in so I finally got pics up of the bumper build thus far. More in my build thread.

I finished up the install mostly last night around 1030.

I am on 33"s locked front. I have not locked the rear because I want a 44 and haven't spent the time to find one and deal with it.

I'm planning on being at sierrafest in 2 weeks and the rubicon the week after.. so hopefully it works well.
I was able to bust and rotate out the welded/cracked internals from my Chrylser 8.25 29sp today. :2thumbsup:

Very stoked as this is a game changer for what I was thinking and planning I had to do next.........................

found a local jeep guy with a shop that only works on jeeps. Called him about doing some work for me....taking the jeep to him monday, and he's only charging me 100 bucks to reinstall the head.

Dick cepek IMO make great tires but the company doesn't give a rays a$$ about their customers, I have had terrible experiences with them. So as long as you never call them after your order you should be ok

I would have to argue with you on that one, I have never had experience with them on crazy rock but i have wheeled them in Tennessee and rock from creek made me grit my teeth a few times and they did well. I have family there with over 200 acres with a large creek running through it(wheeling heaven)
I took a pic of it hiding in the garage after the dd was washed and waxed .

Yesterday we welded on clevis mounts on my bumper and reinforced the front skid now for some paint and installation

Is that a stock bumper? You had better do more than just weld on clevis mounts and hope the stock 3 holes hold on for recovery.
