for me, all i did today was take pictures of my newly cut front bumper.

Hi Steve

I (once again) stayed up very late to finish, prep and paint my combo easy drop out tucked crossmember/tcase skid combo.

I'm not sure I'm happy with the final look, but it's plenty strong. I think I'm going to grind into the welds and bend it up a bit more - I was tired and guessed at some of the angles and probably could get another 3/4" of tuck for the skid. It's still higher than the stock cross member, and won't die of abuse like the old one did.

Looks great man, how much lift and travel did you gain?

And I'd like to pick your brain on my rear bumper project. I have a great idea about the hinge but seem to be indecisive on the latch mechanism. Any thoughts? Or do you know of any place to get a good close up pictures of a latch? One of the other members posted this pic. But I can't remember who it was. I hope he doesn't mind me posting it (if you do, I am sorry and will take it down) but this is the look I'm going for but can't see the latch well enough. I'll mount my tire a little lower though, for visibility reasons. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
That would be my rig. There is a bunch of photos of my rear bumper in my build thread. :cheers2:
Not what I did to my xj but what I'm doing for it, rebuilding a hi lift jack that was givin to me 4 or 5 yrs ago. Going to clean it up paint it, probably black, to match the tan/black theme I'm goin for on the jeep.

Will post pics on rebuild next week with my time off.
For a call from the shop today, they say I either have a blown head gasket, or cracked cylinder head....yay.
Well on the first my vehicle in Afghanistan was struck by and IED under my seat. I broke 3 bones in my left foot One of them twice. I also broke my ankle pretty good and tore a very important ligament in my foot. In my back I bruised 2 vertebrae and have a herniated disc, also got a mild concussion. In the states now! Surgery Friday on the foot then 6-8 weeks no weight in it then 4-6 months of therapy! But I am doing well

As for the xj I have decided that for my troubles I deserve a full psc hydro assist kit for it, pump, steering box and all! Will be ordered soon.
If Anyone knows where I can get the best deal on the psc hydro kit please pm me.

crap dude! that sucks. hope you make a full recovery.

call PSC direct. they have an XJ expert on staff. there are some special things to put an assist kit in the XJs now. they stopped making the small bore boxes, and moved exclusively to the large bore boxes (durango size) and in order to run them you need a higher volume pump, they have a bolt-in option but it requires a custom bracket.

I started working on the rear bumper tie-ins today.
opened up the frame rails

took out that stupid block inside the passenger rail

tomorrow I will finish cutting out the 2x4" to fit under the fuel filler, drill and tap, and them cut the old mounts off the bumper.

Did a test run of the new trailer setup, happy to say it pulled great.

Man, I Hate that for you. I'm glad your doing ok and that your spirits are up. I have two friends in the sand box now and my brother leaves next week to join the rest of the 3rd I.D. His baby was due 2 days before they deployed last month. So they let him stay home longer to take care of his family. You'll be in our prayers brother. Get well soon!!
