If the cooling system is working properly it won't over heat at all. I can be driving around in sugar sand at the dunes for several hours (a lot of the time full throttle) and the engine temp never goes above 210, now the trans temp is a different story...
Agreed. Put a new thermostat in and had the ac on today. No problems.

Besides my XJ I daily drive and once every 3 months land speed race my '07 ZX-14. I put about 30k miles on it a year. Does that make me a ricer as well?
well duh.

broke my dash trying to take it off to get to the gauge cluster yesterday, I was being so gentle too.

anyone know where I can get a new one, BESIDES THE JY!

our JYs here don't have many 97 up XJ's

I can get basically the same clearance with 37's on a 9"/44 as i can with tons and 39.5's
Can you? Really? Your body and bumpers are the same height, and you can climb the same size ledges?

It's certainly possible that where you wheel you can get away with 37's no problem, and if that's the case you can probably get away with smaller axles. But the only thing that's "the same" between properly setup tons and 40's or 42's and smaller axles with 37's would be the clearance to the bottom of the diff.

Like I said, that may be perfectly appropriate--maybe even better--but it certainly not "the same" in any sense of the word. I can get "the same" clearance on an S35 and 35's probably, but that's not the same either.

also does anyone know why my gauges are throwing the NO BUS code, and dropping in and out everytime I hit a bump, or it rains?

I havent had gauges in 2 weeks, and it sucks not knowing how much gas I have, and not being able to see the temp gauge.

I plan to clean the connection behind the gauge cluster, but have also heard that it could be my TPS???

any thoughts?

Do just your RPM and speed gauge just fall to zero or is it the whole cluster when you hit a bump, ect?

The RPM and speed gauge on mine every once in a while when I hit a larger bump would drop and then the Air Bag light come on until they came back on. Mine would eventually come on by themselves or unless I did either one of these things: Tap the horn (guaranteed to come on) tap the top of the dash board by the gauges or giggle the headlight switch I think... and then the air bag light shuts off and everything went back to normal, hahaha! On mine, the rest of the gauges were fine though, this actually did not happen to often with mine though, and hasn't happened in months actually...

Some people say it has to do with the clock spring, I think for me, I probably have a dirty connection. But like I said, it hasn't been a problem in a while...

pensacola fl, is it the dark grey/black color dash?
Very dark gray. Not sure what year though. I can take some pics for you but it may be a day or two before I get out to my folks where I have it stored in one of our barns. And I don't think it would cost to much to ship it from Somerset Ky.

Made Rear upper shock BPE's. Continuing to stash parts and prepare for lift Ver 2.0. I think I'll just weld them in and be done with those legendary bolts.

Brought home gas and some other crap for the new Mig. I'm going to have to practice a bit and thread up .023 wire before I start into the rockers this weekend.
