gave it a good hand washing :)

drove it to school to take my last final of the year only to find out that the final was online, and that it was due at 7pm, not be available at 7pm... thats going to hurt the GPA :thumbdown::thumbdown::crying::violin:

Brought it home a new friend; a new to me '97 white 4-dr w/ 70k miles. 4.0, ABS, NP242, D-35(L)/D-30.

Ya and it's got the drivers-rear tow hook as well. It's gonna be my capable DD. I wanted a 4-door for a while so i was beaming when i found this rig. Seriously, no rust, so undercoat as much as i can before the winter and salt starts. Run 31's on as close to stock lift as possible for fuel economy, bumped all the way out and set for max downtravel. Maybe clean up approach angle w/ some sort of high-angle prerunner bumper. Spartan lock the front for drivability.

31's aren't going to get very good fuel economy. I ran them on both my Jeeps (one with Aw4, one with 5-speed), and on both of them, my MPG went up by 2-3 with a 235. Two cents...

I was at my son's baseball game, sitting in the jeep behind the fence in center field on a phone call, and he caught a pop-up and I flashed my four yellow PIAA roof lights across the baseball field to get the fans fired up and the referee called time out because I was blinding him... This is a fairly large ball field too and it was broad daylight.

I got my cage in for real. Not super happy. The front dash bar is too short, and it's crushing the top plastic piece of the dash. It's really noisy, and the gauge bezel won't fit right.

Back to the drawing board.

Sucks man. You gonna modify it?

While not quite as dramatic as yours, I feel your pain with parts not quite made as flawless as they should be. My solid cover bolt holes weren't exactly drilled exactly to spec, so I have a stripped bolt hole in my housing that I'm gonna have to figure out what to do with.

Drove it to find geocaches, I need a better GPS, lol. Only found 1 of 3 in the area, however I suspect one may have floated away down river when the river got high enough a few weeks back, so it might not be all my fault :).

I haven't gotten around to swapping the rear shocks out yet, weather has been so-so lately.

Ya, i know. I was referring to the low lift height as the gas saver. IMO, gotta have at least 31's to clear most ruts, better if locked, and it will give me enough vertical clearance to ensure i'm less prone to going high centered, especially if i can make extra flex. I run 31's on my '94 w/ 3.55 gears and 4.5" lift and the gas is pretty bad, probably more due to the fact that I'm driving a billboard than the tires; I can feel the wind resistance everywhere I go.

Put on a +1" shackle lift and installed a CB in the white xj. Magnet mount so i can slap it on the tailgate for no vertical clearance loss when wheeling :D Shocks are toast. Rock shield's completely rusted off and now the shock body wears it like a bracelet. leaves still have some life in them. I think i can clear 31's if heavily bumped.
