Got the front all buttoned up, so I now have my lift on, sitting a hair over 3" up front. With a hair under 4" out back it looks pretty good, I like a rake forward anyway. If it bugs me Ill just carry more junk in the back, lol. I do have 1" and 2" coil spacers, if it doesn't settle in the back I can tune the front height in 1/2" increments (a 1" spacer without the stock isolaotor would be about .5")


I loosened the tie rod clamps, but couldn't get the tie rod to move with a big monkey wrench so I sprayed it with PB, and will try later; the toe is pretty bad, about 9/16" toe in right now. I also drained the TC, but the mouth of an ATF quart is too big, so I will get a little siphon/transfer pump thing I have wanted anyway. I also need to get a tap/die for the rear breather tube still.

Transfer case and driveshafts installed! Was a huge pain in the *** and I turned a darker shade of Brasillian because of it, but I'm happy.

Now onto whatever else I have to do before it hits the badlands. Woot.

Ps. I may have the first cherokee with an NV-249. That's right. Two-fourty-NINE...and it's the good one with low lock.

Cut a deal with a scrap/wrecking yard for a 99+ intake manifold for $40. And they're going to pull it.

Hammered and hacksawed a bracket into shape. Turns out a tow package makes a decent anvil. :)

Still working on that stupid junkyard tire carrier slowly. I've got the sag to where my weight will bring it down about an inch, but that still doesn't seem strong enough. Working on beefing up the top mount some more.

What led up to doing this? By "this" I mean lowering the Jeep and inch.
Why did i lower it an inch? Is that the question youre asking?

I lowered it, because, my rear leaf pack was too stiff, so i took two leafs out, and then the rear was lower than the front, so i lowered the front too.

OK OK im not going to lie the way she sits is the way i bought her. Only thing i have done so far is have my old man paint her didnt like the white. I know its better to build then buy but im in Afghanistan right now and couldnt pass her up for 4000. And as far as the front leaf springs she's sitting on dana 60's much easier to build leaf mounts then build coil mounts. I know some of you might look down there nose cause i bought her and didnt build her but you know what im cool with that. HATERS :thumbdown: haha next up for her is solid diff covers, new warn lockouts, mount the winch and build a stinger. i will be home in July for leave and making a trip to Slade KY. and you know i will post wheelin pics . thanks everyone for asking about her.

And i can do a build thead, but it will be in July when im home. i will go from the day she came home to the way she sits when im home in July
i do admit it is always nicer to build than buy. but in that case you could buy for cheap and if you dont like the set up you have some nice parts to sell to make a chunk of money to build how you want it. regardless its still a nice rig. ill be looking forward to your thread. and id like to throw out a :thumbsup: and big thanks for your service! im still debating about signing up in the next year or two.

Sounds like the opposite of what I'm going to do! I need to add leaves.

Bumper+tire carrier+tire+hitch+tank skid+roll cage= leaf spring sag, haha

thought intensely about a paint job. the front end has thousands of chips from the highway. idk if i should keep her chili pepper red, or go yellow or black....

^ ^ i thought you gave it back to insurance?

for me, im thinking of buying another and swapping everything over. but i dont know..im thinking once my brother gets his license, im going to sell the jeep and buy a summer car like a mustang or something like that and keep the jeep as the winter beater. ill see if my plan holds true because that would be ideal. like i had before when i had my 90 mustang as the summer driver and the jeep could sit.

^ oh no. I've always had her, just never had the motivation nor time to work on her. Until now, she's just been sitting. It was like $100 off to keep the jeep. I quickly made that back with what I sold off of her.

Getting the t-case installed kick started the whole process.

That would make sense just look for the leak? You should be able to here it if it's in the header
