Oh dude.... 100% Was just making a run to storage. Noticed the smoke cloud in my rear view less than a half mile from home. Instant u-turn.
Well, I'm a dumbs**t. Unbeknownst to me, I had a big slack loop in my new cooler line that the serpentine belt made short work of. What a f***ing mess. Tranny fluid literally everywhere. Ugh. This may go down as one of the dumbest things I've done, at least on this vehicle. Check your work kids.

Of sorts, yes! It is unbelievable how far tranny fluid goes. Entire engine bay including the whole underside of hood, plus the under carriage was just coated. There were drips hanging all the way on the far end of the muffler and rear diff! Can of brake clean on the inside of both rotors, 3 cans of degreaser under the hood, a car wash with the under body flush, and as I sit here idling and checking fluid, there is still fluid burning off the exhaust. Looking like I lost 6qts....
Homemade WJ recessed winch bumper so far. Beginning to take shape. I always loved the round curves of the WJ, and set out to design a bumper that complimented that. Everything below the end wings is getting cut out (high clearance). Still have a bit of shaping to do, then the other side wing.. Shackle mounts, then Ill design a skid plate.

Had a close call exploring some fire roads in Arkansas.

Was trying to do a K turn in a sketchy area, but kept slipping. And then something weird happened with my engine.
I started it and ran super rough. It didn't matter if it was in reverse or drive, when I hit the gas pedal none of the tires moved and there was a knocking noise in the engine bay????

I was so scared I somehow killed my engine in the middle of nowhere with my wife. I was looking underneath half expecting to see a fuel line busted or something.

Fortunately, I after letting it sit for a few minutes, it started again no issues.

Asides, from that nerve-racking, it was a rather enjoyable experience.

Looks like a beautiful place to go.
you've got a ghost in the machine, travel safe.
back country roads in Arkansas are beautiful for sure.
Still waiting on my rear driveshaft, so I took it for a cruise FWD style on the front drive only. Doesn't feel any different than RWD however I did notice the driveline is much smoother with the new t/case and driveshaft. And of course nothing can go perfect, my fresh rebuild case is leaking from the front yoke. I used the original yoke with a new seal, guess I will have to find a seal saver or just get a new yoke.

What is a “seal saver”? 🤔
Very thin steel sleeve that fits over the shaft where the seal rides. Gives a fresh surface if the old one has a groove worn from the seal lip. Also known as a Speedi Sleeve.

Thanks @cDee63 , I have never seen that thing; something new learned! 👍

Been enjoying mine problem (and leak) free for a few weeks now. I installed some HPS silicone heater hoses that don't have the failure prone rubber to rigid hose gasket crimp trash that leaks. Looking at a weekender overlanding trip at the end of April and I'm glad this thing is officially doesn't have any "must fix" issues. I may drill out my rear sway bar to accomodate quick disconnect mounts before then, but that's a nice to have.

Here’s a recent photo of it overloaded with dirt. This was maybe 300-350 lb split between the roof and trunk, with that sag I am wondering if I should try out the HD OME springs versus the medium duty I have in the rear now. Turns out when you buy the "Heavy Duty" full OME kit they give you HD front springs and MD rear springs, slightly annoying.

redi sleeves have been around for years, any place that has an oil seal can be seal up using a redi sleeve and a new seal, gives the seal a new seat to run against i never replace a front main seal without using one

Slammed some 1/4" SS hardware cloth in the grill mostly because when I go up to the north woods after dusk, which is often on a summer's Friday eve, I end up picking 20 brazillion moths out of my rad on Sunday eve. Ignore the remnants of the great trans cooler blowout of last weekend lol....

Let us know how that works. I get the same thing after dark here in Florida, the number of critters flying around is incredible. And they are BIG! One splat on the windshield takes what seems like a quart of washer fluid to get off.
