Installed new frame side sway bar bushings on the front.

A few days ago I did the MARTIN hydro fan solenoid mod. I did not take it very far at all, 1/4 turn, to start. Be careful doing this, maybe it is just a coincidence, but I don't believe so. Three days later the fan (86K miles on the rig) now moans at idle and leaks. it was dead quiet and dry prior to the mod. This is pushing my mechanical fan conversion to the forefront. Was in the works anyway, but now it needs to be done. 12 blade ford fan, 2000 wj 4.7 shroud, 2000 wj clutch, power steering pump and hoses. I will either put in a 10 ohm resistor or leave the solenoid plugged in to keep the computer happy. Parts have started to arrive.

So - am I an idiot?? You betcha. But at least when I do a job, I do my best to do it right the first time. Take pride in your work - someone may discover it someday and blab on the Google box about what a lazy hack you are....
Or you end up owning the thing long enough to circle back around on something you did because you want/need to do something differently, wonder who the hack was who left such a mess, and then slowly remember it was in fact you who did that. I may be speaking from experience here lol.

I had the windows tinted. Never really a need in Michigan but now in Florida it is a must with the WJ's

house of glass. Kept it legal FL standards, 30% frt door glass and 5% all others. Went for the max heat blocking film, immediately noticed the difference on the 45 minute ride home with my crappy A/C (next on the list after my current parts come in for my t/case build). It is warm out here too, it's 82 with almost 70% humidity. Looks cooler too, no pun intended..

Got it all back together, started it up, runs smooth….turned it off. Noticed some dripping.

******** heater hose is leaking where the hard line is crimped to the rubber.

Siggggggghhh. 2 heater hoses in route…

Black tail lights would definitely look better with that tint.

Tint just raised the HP by 20% and the "FJB Edition" emblem raise the cool factor by 100%!

That emblem gets a fair bit of attention here in Florida, 99% of it positive. Something I could NOT say about where I moved from. It did feel faster on the way home... Thing is I went too light on the front glass, it's legal but I wanted a bit more privacy. My mistake for sure, they were clear to me it how dark it would be. Being very cool about offering a discount to retint it, nope. I'll pay full price, my mistake.

Was it sprayed on or is it a film? How much did they get ya for, if I may ask?
Installed traction boards to the driver's side of the roof top cargo basket. I removed them, because I don't want to be "that guy" driving around town thinking I am Mad Max. Since I do not have a winch and will be hitting totally unknown offroad segments along the Kentucky Adventure Tour during my May roadtrip, I figured they certainly aren't a bad idea. 160' worth of straps, a bunch of D-rings, and a 4t come-a-long will compliment the traction boards. I am betting I won't need any of it, but if I settle in with that confidence and bring nothing I will surely regret it.

Ordered 6' x 8' retractable awning to mount on the passenger side. The rear passenger door is actually where I'll be grabbing the most frequently used gear from, so it would be nice to have shade/shelter there at camp. It is also starting to look like overkill is getting the best of me in terms of gear, and I probably won't have room to sleep in Jeep comfortably. I will string a hammock out the same door to a tree, under the awning. I realized I didn't take any pics of the traction boards and how I mounted them after I removed them, I'll snap pic when I mount the awning. I will also be sure to test this and all the gear out on my land up north for at least one weekend before I head south. My land has a lot of swamp on it, so I actually may intentionally get Heepy stuck and use only what I intend to take with me to get her out.

It is film, super high zoot nano ceramic stuff, lol
It was 4 bills for all windows. I will say it does make a significant difference in the interior temp. It has been sitting in the sun all day with windows up (it's 82 right now), when I open the door it is noticeably cooler inside.

It was like Xmas in March here today. UPS dude and the USPS lady both came through! That Tom Woods output shaft is almost too pretty to bury in the case. Old one above it for reference.

I dig it. Probably not spending that in my WJ as she came tinted good enough, but I have been curious on my Saturn. ZERO factory tint in that thing. I feel like I am driving a fish bowl on display for the world. But living up north, I definitely do no want to get the tint film stripe that occur from the rear window defroster. I see those stripe everywhere up here and it looks awful....
I was a bit skeptical about the IR blockage claims until I got in my new neighbors car, I was impressed to say the least. And being the fishbowl the WJ is it really helps. The Vette is next month, that one is going to cost a pile being it has the crazy shape hatch window. But it is even more of a fishbowl than the WJ, the hatch glass is like being an ant under a magnifying glass.

Ticked rear diff service off the project road trip list. The pic doesn't do it justice, but the cover was pitted really deep. I just wouldn't feel good running it any longer.

New stainless hardware too. And yup, one is missing. A PO snapped one off. This is the 3rd time I serviced the diff and it hasn't leaked yet, and I've seen no evidence of moisture in the old lube. So, don't care. Not having quite a straight shot at it with a drill is a good excuse to ignore it, plus it's above the fluid level anyway. The new Dorman cover was NOT perfect. 3 holes did not line up great, ended up running a 5/16-18 tap thru to cut clearance in the cover.

My 242HD rebuild got put on hold, the kit didn't come with the bearing the shift shaft rides on and one of the main bearings was wrong. No biggy, Transmission Parts Distributors came through, this case is an oddball but they were able to get me all the right parts.

Where did you get the running boards?

What’s odd about the case?
Where did you get the running boards?
They were on it when I bought it a few years ago.
What’s odd about the case?
It is a mixture of parts from heavier duty cases with a standard one from what I can tell getting parts. For example getting a rebuild kit for a 242 with a 16mm wide input shaft bearing will not have the output bearing needed for a 32 spline shaft, which is a 6207, it comes with a 6206 which is smaller to fit the 27 spline shaft, only the WJ 4.7 case has this. It also has a pump that isn't even listed for a 242, it comes from the larger cases it seems. Had to send some pics of that to TPD to get the proper one. I do know the rear case half is a different part number as well, makes sense seeing the chain is wider as well.
