I ticked a few more items off the road trip check list....
I re-did the anti-moth screen in the front grill. I posted the original attempt a while ago,
@cDee63 requested a "let me know how it goes". I originally cut individual pieces and attached directly to the backside of the grill. Grill snapped into place, albeit hard. The grill popped loose after 20 mi. My 2nd attempt works much better. I instead installed a single sheet of 1/4" stainless hardware cloth behind the grill support. Black tie wraps (black is UV resistant, although since these are shielded once the grill is in place, standard white would have been fine) should do just fine to hold it in place, more were added after pics. Grill snapped in with no effort as one would expect. I can't see how this
couldn't help from collecting pterodactyls in my rad... I should probably add a piece below the bumper as well, and of course now in this moment is when I think of that, as I had the bumper cover off yesterday

I also added a few more Frankenstein stitches to my mangled bumper cover.

Added some exterior lighting for camping and unloading gear after dark. 4" Nilight floods. The rear lamp I mounted high enough so it still shines light through the rear window when the tailgate is open. The lamp on the passenger side is angled to light up the area under my awning.

Finally mounted some tow hooks to the front bumper. I had to put a couple giant stainless fender washers on each to prevent the D-ring from rattling like a cow bell. But..... Another revelation as I write this, is that the D-rings look foolish as those are tow hooks, not D-ring mounts. I will remove them this eve and throw them in the recover kit lol.

I still have a few items to go. While I have been ignoring the CEL light for 3 years, I have concluded for best MPG I definitely need to clear those out. The parts have been on the shelf for as long as I have been ignoring them lol - bank 2 O2 sensors will be replaced, as well as the evap vent solenoid with its associated filter. The whole evap system octopus behind the rear bumper needs to be inspected as well, but if I find cracks/leaks they will likely just get my professional and world famous tape job lol. I also still want to swap out some interior 10A fuses with fresh Bussman replacements. After that, pretty much everything else left on the list is inventory, sorting, and packing. As I write this, 15d 22hrs 51m remain until my trip of many poor decisions begins....
