That linked torque wrench is 20 - 150 ft lbs, if I remember right the minimum torque for the crush sleeve on a Dana 35 is 200 ft lbs. That wrench wouldn't be of much use for a pinion nut application, for me anyways. I'm sure you can work around it but, eh I'd rather have a bigger torque wrench.
NS...... Thats why I said I went WAY past what its rated at...
Mine is 250

Check out the harbor freight pic... the guy is going the opposite way to tighten...

This how I get lug nuts off...

I got it for less than 20 on sale........ came in a red case....

I would never spend 80 bucks on a tool that I can rent for free..

I have used exhaust pipe before that still had muffler on it as a cheater pipe...

But in the junk yard not at my shop... But if it works it works....

since I already posted pics os crap..

Check this sweet cheater for a wrench..

I would never use a cheater pipe on a torque wrench unless it is the type, that I can't recall right now, actually measures torque at the head of the wrench (maybe it's the digital ones?). Most of our clicker types or beam types do not.
Torque is measured at ft/lb meaning at a one foot radius it measures a given force. ie one pound of force at a one foot radius is one ft/lb.
The wrenches length is important to the accuracy. Lengthening the handle with a cheater bar considerably changes the torque. Always hold a torque wrench by it's handle.
ALL TQ wrenches measure TQ at the HEAD........ The cheater pipe can be a mile long, would make no differance when the CLICK goes click.... If set at 40 FT lbs then it will click at 40...... Just may not be able to hear it a mile a way..... But you get what I am saying....:confused::confused::drool::drool:

Sounds like he is putting the cheater between the socket and the wrench, not on the end of the wrench. Thereby changing the center of rotation from the bolt to the end of the cheater.
Center of rotation will always be the bolt and socket..Think about it....... :D:D:D
point of leverage requiring the greatest force is the point closest to the center of rotation. Farther away less force is needed. A tq wrench can be 1 foot long and the center of rotation for a 90lb tq is still going to be 90lbs, heck of a lot harder to turn that short wrench than say if the wrench was extended with a pipe 4 foot.. the Tq wrench can care less how you struggle to turn it to make the click. Its just waiting till the rotational force equals to what you set it at

What happened to "when you have a choice, buy American"?

WELL I am a Hippocratic on that too......

I see it as there are AMERICANs working there.... as my only reasoning to shop there... Plus if you only get the best of the best from there and skip the rest of the junk.
I have bought very little from HF maybe a 100 a year from them...

Did we need to have to translate that?

geroux, What you wrote makes no sense.. But if you like it go with it.. But its wrong...

The rotational force at the fastener does not care if you use a 1 foot wrench or a 10foot wrench to reach the load. And the wrench is calibrated for the end with the socket .....
Where you put your hands is your business. But on high load or high torque I am putting them out as far as I can on the wrench. And if need be I am going to put a cheater pipe on it..

And I am done with this as those that can not get it, will not try... And those that do have already said it... So reread what was posted and I am out of here...
