Hey guys! First post here as I bought my first jeep yesterday. I F’d up. Broken center body mounts on both sides and the back two bolts are loose? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have buddies with lifts and ability to weld in repairs. Just wondering how bad I messed up really

I wouldn’t be too worried. All TJs have rusted out frames lol. Is that rubberized undercoating? It was probably used to hide rust, but the smooth metal beside the rust looks promising. So if you have friends that can weld, tell them to go to town with it .

Yea epoxy undercoating he said. Anywhere I poke with a knife underneath is solid. Any clue why the back two are just spinning in place? Assuming those are completely done for too.

Yeah they’re probably toast, but it’s a common rust point. Basically even in areas like that don’t have winter/sant, they tend to rust around mounts and bolts because of the crevices where water/dirt/sand can collect.

I gave 6 grand for it.. 4.0 standard trans. Motor sounds good and drives good for the most part had it on the interstate it felt fine. Is this something that I NEED to fix asap? And is it worth the time? Should I just try and sell it and find a different one? Would anyone pay 6 grand for a jeep with known rust because I’m not for doing dirty deals and hiding it like what was done to me. Thank you

There’s worse TJs out there. Is it dangerous? Not exactly from a drivability stand point no. Not exactly safe if you run into something but anyway lol. Don’t worry too much right away.

I’m guess that TJ has aftermarket fenders because the old ones rotted off lol. Did you steal it for $6k?? No…but that’s basically the going rate for a TJ that runs and drives but needs work. So dont feel bad. If it works good and the rest of the frame is there, you’re not in bad shape

It looks like the frame/mount in the photo has already had some welding done on it.. probably a patch plate. The welds don't look right and the frame tube is too flat at the corners. You may have a shat sandwich here.

I wouldn't drive it on the road if the body mounts are shot, and if you have one rotted like the photo then there's likely alot more. The ones that are just spinning are probably doing so because the captive nuts inside the frame have come loose. I corrected all this on my replacement tub when I swapped it, and several mount bolts snapped off in the process.

I'd take a close look everywhere two pieces of metal come together and see just how bad it actually is.

It is fixable especially if you have friends with welder.

Might want to double check inside the frame, specifically near the rear lower control arm mount, and inside near where the skid plate bolts to

Yea that's definitely been patched up. Looks like the stuff between the patches might need more patches, then maybe some patches to connect all the patches together.

I'm not at home, but I think that rubber tube hooks into the intake tube.
Looks like someone put an aftermarket intake on there.
