Ive read some decent reviews on the HF welders... Nothing special, but it seems like it would get the job done, especially since they are smaller holes... Plus the whole inside and underside is getting coated and lined, so it doesnt have to be pretty.
careful with coating it...that stuff is a mess if you have to remove it later. We spent HOURS carefully patching the rust inside the tub and priming before spraying my bedliner down... It was a TON of work but I plan on keeping my rig for at least 30yrs so I dont want to deal with it again any time soon.

Lets see some pics of what is considered "too far gone" you'd be surprised how easily most areas of rust are patched and filled.

yeah I missed those pics the first time looking at this from my phone... On second thought, a mid 90's YJ tub sounds like a great idea!

do some research as well into using the YJ vs CJ windshield frame. The plumbing is different for the wipers and defroster...might be easier to use the YJ stuff and adapt to make it look CJ-ish

I'd say its easier with the axle on a bench personally... Get everything back together then you just have to reconnect the brake line and e-brake cable once its under the jeep and bleed it.
