Hoss I once worked for an assistant Dean and full Professor of Accounting who also went to the tooth dentist. That was his terminology and I've used it since. Evidently it was term used by working folks a long time ago. He'd pulled himself up by his bootstraps and heard it at home. Mom worked in the mill and dad was a farmer.Speaking of technical, I feel the need to ask....
What OTHER type of dentist do you see Bob?!?
A high school friend's father was a dentist, and he had a sign above the door leading upstairs to his office that proclaimed him to be a "Tooth Dentist." His office was in an old hotel, and he had suite of three hotel rooms. His chair etc. is still there. At the time the downstairs dining room was a Feed and Seed, and Hardware store. There was also a gunsmith upstairs. Later it was an antiques store. I found out later my friend's grandparents owned the hotel. The building is still in the family. The sign hangs in Steve's basement den.
