I'll be out there but staying at an actual campground. My GF's sister and husband have a group for his birthday and need to hang there for this trip.
Which campground?
Salton Sea Mobile Home Park. Never been there since I'm normally wanting to get away from people.

Leaving house about 2 or so
My parents are headed out there this weekend. Me on the other hand, I have stupid life getting in the way :brickwall
We were sitting in the lucky area last night at the raffle. Chris hit twice with a registration win and a bucket win :surprise: Now he just needs to buy a JK to go with his new Rockhard front bumper and rear tire swing bumper. I won on a registration ticket and got a Dave's Custom stubby front bumper, $250 Metalcloak gift certificate (control arms!!!), and a bunch of other cool stuff. I'll post up some pics later this afternoon.
I have some bumpers for sale along with some other stuff that came in my hernia bag of goodies.
Was good to get out of town for a couple days but the whole wheeling thing in that area is lost on me. Driving over dirt piles in 2wd all day or trying to flop in the notches. Did have a little excitement when all my lug nuts fell off the same tire.

At least my van is well insulated so the sound of tents flapping in gale force winds didn't keep me awake.

Yeah, it did get a bit windy Saturday night leading to Sunday mornings brown out. We were on the road before 9:00 since the wind was such an issue.

This trip for me was just a shakedown run on the LJ. I wanted a place that wasn't too rocky since I don't have any skids on the rig yet other than the stock shovel. The suspension worked great and the ride was really comfortable on & off-road. I got plenty of flex and the 35's should clear no problem when I get them mounted. I liked the longer wheelbase in the whoops and washboard sections for sure too!

What this run really confirmed for me was how much I really enjoy driving a Jeep :grin2:! On the way home I just kind of melted into the thing and it was like an old pair of jeans; it just "fit". Weird I know, but there's just something about it that felt right. I did miss the space of the Taco but I probably took too much stuff to begin with so that's on me. I can see this one hanging around a good long time and a few more dollars being spent!
