Rocky Road Lift

I've decided it is time to give my 96 XJ a bit of a lift. After a little research I am considering the Rocky Road 3in Budget Lift (3in spacer for front and 1.5 in blocks with 1.5 in shackles for the rear). After reading the reviews, people seem to either hate Rocky Road or love them. Has anyone used this lift kit? Were you happy with it and with Rocky Road? Is there other kits that compare in price and performance? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Never heard of them, but personally wouldnt use blocks. not sure how much they are asking, but you can get a 3" lift from RC/IRO for fairly cheap
my dad ordered some rocky road parts a while back and it took them a month or more to get the kit to him and when it showed up it was missing parts. id stick with rough country and rustys. something with a little better reputation.
X2 Never heard of them. I would stay away until they become more popular.

:cheers2:
If you're on a budget I'd consider this along with some bastard pack leaf's and V8 ZJ coils

I just bought this and am pretty happy, all considering. It's a great starter lift.

I have the rough country 3" and i love it and it works great.
Here's a lesson from Rough Country on how to lose a sale in one minute. I was just about to click the purchase button for a 3" lift with the full leaf packs and control arms. I decided to add some quick disconnects, so I checked out that portion of the site and went on live chat to ask a question:

Quite frankly, it's very easily a typo. Not to mention that literally nobody makes disco's for a 3 inch lift. I have a thread asking that same exact question floating around that I posted today.

That being said, the rep should have said more than "nope". But you're going to blame the whole company for one moronic rep?

I'm still convinced that RC's are great entry level lifts. I'm sure mine will suit me well for now and be a great foundation for future upgrades/mods/lift.

Yes, I'm sure it's a typo, but it shows horrendous customer service. How about a suggestion, or asking me a question about what I'm looking for? Those are all basic behaviors of customer service. Instead, he closed the communication just like that.

It's not the customer's responsibility to keep calling and contacting until you get a helpful representative. It's the COMPANY'S responsibility to be aware of how they are interacting with the customers.

They may be great lifts. Their prices seem to be good. But I'm certainly turned off by the response I got to my question. And that's how people make choices on which companies to do business with.

JKS makes quick discos for 3" lifts, but they're the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I don't really see the problem with "nope" - it's not like they sell anything else equivalent to what you're looking for and as far as answers go, you can't really get any clearer than that.

You're preaching to the choir. I spent the first 3 years of my IT career doing front line phone & email customer support. I completely agree that the rep should have handled it better. I also know that most customer service reps are outsourced and making like $10 an hour (if they're in the US). Not to mention that the places that hire them are basically revolving doors for new employee's.

But back to the original point of this thread. There are a whole bunch of better options than what the OP posted. Plus lift blocks are horrid for the soft sprung rear leaf's of an XJ. They will only lead to bad things. If you are lucky, they will just screw your springs. They could however cause them to break/crack and cause all sorts of other problems.

JKS makes them for $170 & RE makes them for $150. If I was going to drop that much, I would have added it to my 3 inch lift budget and gotten a 4.5 inch full leaf pack kit from RC, and a set of their $50 Disco's. Or I would have ordered a Currie setup.

I'm fully aware that JKS & RE probably have the best setup's, but that's too rich of my blood. Rather than muddy up this thread. Here's my thread about disco's for a 3 inch XJ lift.

I have purchased from RRO before and been unhappy. They are very nice when you first order but when things go wrong and you call back, not so much. Parts I ordered from them were on back order and had been for some time. They didn't bother to tell me when I ordered. The lift shackles I got from them came with the grease nipple holes drilled out too large. They did send me the correct size about a week later.

They do a lot of shady stuff. Their pictures often do not show a Jeep with the lift they claim it has, and often show Jeeps with lifts from other manufactures, but claim them as their own.

Wise buyers will steer clear of Rocky-Road.
Does anyone know anything about RukSpeed lift kits? I found a 3 inch kit using 3 inch poly spacers for the front and 3 inch shackles for the rear. It also includes new bumpstops. Has anyone used anything from RukSpeed?
STAY AWAY FROM ROCKY ROAD. Google "Rocky Road Outfitters + Bad" and read some of the experiences.
I've ordered a few things from Rocky Road and haven't had any problems at all...

So many people bash them (alot of them do it cause they read "some thread")... I would order from them again...

I wouldn't purchase a lift that uses blocks from anybody though...
