Hi All,

About a month ago, I finally got another Jeep so I could start going crawling again. I figured I would make another build thread, as its always fun to be able to go back and see all of the modifications done to it.

Here are the preliminary stats:

1998 XJ Manual
- 4.0L with 162K miles
- 4.88 gears with detriot locker in the rear 8.25
- 4.5" Rubicon Express Mid arm kit (I'm pretty sure) with low pro skid
- SYE and CV driveshafts
- looks like it may have a motor lift on it to increase angles
- Crown fenders (discontinued) - the front fenders were ripped up as the PO didnt understand what a bumpstop was, so I went ahead and tore them off.
- custom exhaust with some sort of glasspack and a turndown
JCR bumper with Smittybilt 12K winch

Problems with the Jeep when I purchased it:
- the doors can lock with a key, but none of the lock buttons work
- power steering completely fails at low RPMs
- bumpstops arent correct and the fender is being eaten
- front shocks were all torn up. Could open them like an accordion
- No interior lights worked

Anyway, here are some pics of when I first got her home:

Then I started buying some parts:

Heres the fender with the flares torn off before and after i gave it a little hammer work and fender liner:

Then I installed up a CB. Made a bracket for the antenna and for the headliner that utilized the sunvisor brackets:

Installed a new instrument panel that actually has worthwhile gauges on it, and threw in some LED bulbs while I was at it:

Installed some Bilstein 5100s up front and drooped the axle a bit for fun:

Tonight I got the old power steering pump out and am read to install a PSC pump as soon as I go rent a puller. Also installed a pump cooler behind the front bumper and a Crane diff cover up front.

Today's fun: Installed some hockey puck bumpstops and finished installing the PSC powersteering pump and cooler.

The front was about 2" higher than the rear, so I added a rough country shackle relocation kit to the rear.

Before:

After:

It seemed to give me about 1.5" of lift. But, in my usual fashion, I forgot to measure the before and after.

The new development is that the AX-15 is leaking pretty substantially. Its hard to tell where the leak is, as it seems to be coming from all over, only when I drive it. I think it is probably the main rear output seal.

Last weekend I spent roughly 10 hours replacing the seals on the AX-15. It was a PITA to drop the skid since the long arms were attached and weren't willing to separate. Anyway, Ive driven around a bit this week and thankfully, the leaking has stopped.

Then I took a pic of the front steering for good measure. I need to find something to replace that tie rod at the least.

Heres some pics from TDS. We had a decent time, but my power steering line burst about 2 hours into offroading, so I had to baby it a bit the rest of the trip.

That's a sick xj you got my friend. On one of the pics you were really close to scratching all the driver side. Were you ner ous at the moment? Seems like you had a lot of fun.

Thanks. Its gone plenty of scratches on it already. Im not worried about banging it up. I just had to folder the mirror and I was good.

Once im done with tax season here, ill get back to updating this thread with activity (and hopefully new parts )

I got some groceries with it the other day. I was feeling practical as my locker screeched around the parking lot.
As soon as i figure out uploading pictures i will start my own build thread

Did you make sure to flex on a curb?
