Rear end

I have 35's but want to get a upgraded rear end first. I was looking for used Dana 44 but can't find any locally. I found some 8.8's one geared 3.73 and one 4.10. My stock gears now are 3.73 front and rear. If I get the 4.10 would I have to re gear the front axle? Or should I get the 3.73 rear end and re gear them later on?

To answer maybe a little differently, 3.73 or 4.10 won't be best suited for 35s. So both axles will require regearing for best performance.
X2, neither ratio would even be close to a good ratio choice for 35's. 4.88 is what you want for 35's if you have the 5-speed, or 4.56 if you have the automatic.

And yes you can regear just the rear axle first and regear the front axle later so long as no one will shift into 4x4 while the f/r ratios are different.
