Any idea's rear cargo area tie down rings....

Looking to replace the cheap rear cargo rings in the back of the xj, i also wanna add some to the rear seat back and the floor right behind the front seats to secure the rear seatback down.

Any one have any suggestions? I would prefer that they swivel so that they can be used in any direction.

Whatever you use up top, make sure you have a good sized fender washer on the underside to keep them from ripping thru the floor - momentum is a force you don't want to feel on the back of your head if you are upgrading to tie down any sort of weight.

I like that cleat idea just above, but would be afraid of them getting in the way when loading boxes etc. Depends on how they were oriented I suppose.
I completely understand the momentum is force theory - seen it first hand in the back of an aircraft. The end result wasn't pretty. One concern that I have with the ones that I use is that they have the ability to swivel. That way when when stuff is tied down it's not pulling at angles on the tie-down rings. Looking for something simalar to whats used in H60/H47 helicopters. They have a minium 5000 lbs weight rating in any direction for the H60's.

90s GM SUVs have some pretty beefy hooks
so i would hit the junkyard and see if you can find some with the toolbox discount.

otherwise you can buy these:

I think that these would work best behind the the drivers and pass. seats on the floor boards. As well to replace the weak factory ones. Just gotta figure out how to mount them to the fold down rear seat back. The Cleats would work perfect for on top of the rear wheel wells to be able to "cross" tie stuff. Thanks for the ideas guys, mucho appreciated.

Does anyone happen know when I drill out the rivets for the factory tiedowns where I will punch through the floor at. It looks like they are between the "frame" and the fuel cell. Also gotta be able to put fender washers on it.

I installed 4 of the 6 Lowes Tie down rings this weekend. Only took about 2 hours total. The rivets holding the factory ones in are just outside of the frame. All the rear cargo area. I gonna do the other ones next weekend. 1 behind both driver/passenger seats to tie down tool boxes. I may put them in the rear outside corner of the floor board so will run across center of the bench seat when I have stuff on it while folded down.
