i bought these to help me get in and out. any rocker protection is a bonus.

they mount to the frame with self-tapping screws for which holes need to be drilled.

i'm thinking about using thru-bolts instead of the screws provided so that they're supported by the whole frame and not just one side of it. i would of course have to drill twice as many holes.
not really interested in welding.

Don't through-bolt the frame, use the provided self-tapping screws Tightening bolts that pass completely through the frame will cause the frame to bend/collapse inward at those points which will then loosen the bolts. Tightening them again will start the process over again. Not to mention the side of the frame is MORE than strong enough for something like that. We commonly attach recovery/tow hooks to the side of the frame in the rear.

You could use something like never seize on the screws...

finally got these on. i didn't go all the way thru the frame. i did end up using a 5/16 tap for the holes. the self-threading bolts may or may not work. marking the holes was a task for one person.
they're sturdy.
