Does the CJ have a 'Double Cardan joint' on the front driveshaft? I know my J-10 does and the 'centering yoke' can wear or break and cause quite a banging noise when under heavy load.

I get a load bang sounds like is coming from transfere case

sounds like someone banging on the front Diff with a large hammer

So, is the sound coming from the front diff or under your arse from the transfercase?
