Putting 02 liberty 4.7 into my 05 grand Cherokee Limited

I think the tone wheels for the cam and crank sensor are different. Pretty sure 2002 Liberty was somewhat unique in that regard. Might want to pull the valve cover and check. I am also thinking you meant 3.7?

Per Federal emissions laws, you should not be putting an engine into any vehicle that's older than the vehicle itself. The emissions standards get more stringent every year and by using an older engine you are tampering with the equipment the vehicle is supposed to have (as you noted, the EGR system is different). By putting that engine in that vehicle, you are insuring the vehicle will not be compliant with Federal regulations:

For light-duty vehicles, installation of a light-duty engine into a different light-duty vehicle by any person would be considered tampering unless the resulting vehicle is identical (with regard to all emission related parts, engine design parameters, and engine calibrations) to a certified configuration of the same or newer model year as the vehicle chassis.

No sir I meant 4.7 v8 and yes it seems the tone wheel is diferent what can I do to make this work can I swap the harnes and the pcm out and get spark or will I have to tear down a good motor to change the tone wheels?

You need to figure out what you have. Liberty never came with a 4.7. It would be in your best interest to get the correct tone wheels. But that is a lot of work. Easier to get the right motor for the newer Jeep. Crank tone wheel basically requires crankshaft removal.

well my bad sir it seems I'm not attentive as i should be the donor jeep is a Lerado. after tearing the motor down there is not as much damage as i first thought so could maybe get some referral's as to where to get the most cost effective engine rebuild kits ? ive heard of Rockauto and parts Geek is there a cheep but still quality kits ?
