I've been working on my new dash and installing new gauges, dash lights and pulls. I've purchased a new oil pressure sensor, as well as, a oil pressure gauge, but unfortunately the previous owner hacked up the wiring. What wires do I need to connect the two together? The gauge has a small black and red wire. I need some idea of what wires I need and where they go. I want to just start over if possible. Thanks for any help.

I colored a 1979 wire diagram from a manual

Sometimes the wiring is the same (or close to) in other years

I also have a 1977 CJ-5 (and a '46 too!)

These diagrams may aid you (or not!) The fuse boxes are different

See Posts 2-4 in this link Lights/Main Power Wire... HEI Set up

I like these old style diagrams since you can follow them like a map!

Don't have a 1977 Factory Manual????

Is it a Jeep gauge or an after market one? I have replaced all mine with after market gauges and they all have a black wire that goes to ground and a red one that goes to switched power. You should have a third connection for sender input. I haven't looked at the wiring diagram on JF's referenced site, but the 74 has a diagram and a Rosetta Stone color code list of which wire goes where.

Good luck!
