Wow, nice job cleaning it up! I'm sure this is a stupid question, but if I was looking to tow something similar, what's the name of that style hitch and where could I find one?

Funny you should ask...
After I replace the rear bumper with something a little nicer and get the wheels sorted out, that's the next thing I'm looking into. If anyone has a decent inexpensive (at least somewhat inexpensive) option for the tent or the rack I'd love to hear it. I'm sure it'll have to be something custom since the trailer is so small. There's no way in HELL I'm dropping the crazy money for those tentrax trailers. Cool as hell, but WAY expensive.

Tell me more about this "5 on 5" adapter. I am going to want to put Jeep wheels on my trailer-to-be at some point and I guess I'll need some of these. Do they make the wheels much wider (in effect)? I'm like to avoid that if I can. FWIW, I've got Dexter 3500 lb hubs w/electric brakes.

As for a tent - I'm pretty confident you'll have to make something yourself. Do you need a real tent that seals up, or just some shelter? If you just need a shelter, there are some easy ways to do it - I plan to do this on the trailer I'm building. Put a flat top on it and weld on some things in strategic locations so I can throw up a couple of polls and get a quick tent-like shelter up there if I need one.

Thanks Tdog. I just noticed you're building one from scratch. That's awesome! I'm not in mine too much. I paid about $600 for it to start, a couple hundred for the expanded steel and the diamond plate, and I got the flares from a friend for free.
As far as the adaptors, I think I spoke too soon. If I want to get matching wheels, the adaptors are not too big a deal for the bolt pattern, but I need to cut the center out of them to get them on and I don't know what that would entail.
I got an email today saying that these wheels would work:

so I think I may just try them on in a 16" wheel and throw some Goodyear MTRs on it to match the spare and call it good. That would put me in the whole set up around $1100. Not cheap, but I probably couldn't replace it for that and the cosmetic stuff is worth it to me.
As far as the tent, maybe I'll do something similar. If I put a hinged cover on it, I could maybe find a way to set up a single man tent on it using tie downs. It would probably be easier to set up and more comfortable than doing it on the ground. Hmmm.

If you're looking for just a small tent to sleep in you should consider one of those tent cots. I've been looking at getting one for my trailer and just making some rails to mount it on top.

Dude, that is a kick *** trailer and it's a double kick-*** trailer for the price. I bet you could sell it for twice that, if you get some kind of good waterproof top on there. Not that you want to sell it - I'm just sayin' (; It is unlikely I could sell mine for what I'll end up putting into it - not that I want to - I'm just sayin'

And by the way - if you can get any more of those free fender flares or any other goodies for my trailer - keep me in mind

Yep, that's exactly it. :thumbsup: They're not as spacious as a full out tent, but it looks like a decent place to sleep.

I have a set of Bushwacker flares I'll sell for 100 bucks. The fronts are cracked, but the rears are in great shape. :thumbsup:

I just finished welding a crossmember on the rear half of a YJ frame...going to bolt on the remnants of a YJ tub. Can't wait to show these pics to the wife - she thinks i am brain-dead for making a jeep-trailer
