THERE ARE MANY POSTS TO THIS THREAD.

POST #3 contains SOFTWARE related information.

What is MYGIG? Click here for an explanation and video demo!!!http://www.chrysler.com/en/owners/mygig/

RADIO CODES

Bottom right corner of the radio, you will see a 3 letter Radio Code:
RES - Single disk, CD, MP3/WMA. Media Center 130. Standard base radio.
REQ - Six disk, CD, DVD, MP3/WMA. Media Center 230 option.
REN - MyGig, non navigation model. Media Center 430 option. 1st Gen.
RBZ - as above, but the new model starting in 2010. 2nd Gen.
RER - MyGig, navigation model. Media Center 730 option.
All radios: +RSC means Sirius satellite integrated.

PRELUDE: MYGIG for Jeep Wrangler JK.
HIGH SPEED vs. LOW SPEED
MYGIG units are available in both HIGH SPEED BUS and LOW SPEED BUS.
The Wrangler JK requires a HIGH SPEED BUS model.
LOW SPEED is for Grand Cherokee and Commander, among others.
HIGH SPEED is for Wrangler (all years) & Liberty.
If you purchase a HIGH SPEED MYGIG REN or RER for your Wrangler, 99% of the time, it will work "plug and play" without any dealer involvement.

Anyone can remove their old stereo and install a REN or RER in a matter of 30 minutes with common tools and little or no experience. If you do have experience, expect this to only take 15-20 minutes.

MOPAR® SIRIUS SATELLITE ANTENNA FOR RER,REN,RES,REQ,RBZ
Antenna for Radio that has integrated satellite radio receiver such as RES, REQ +RSC. Or RER, REN.
If your current stereo has a SAT button on it, you already have this part installed.
It is the yellow plug.
Manufacturer Part No: 82210466AB
This is plugged into the back of your stereo. The antenna is placed on the P-side roll bar.
Link to part: MOPAR 82210466AB - MOPAR® SIRIUS Satellite Radio Installation Kit for 07-10 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec
Link to PDF: http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82210466AB.pdf
for 2011 JK, the GPS and SAT antenna was combined.
more research needs to be done.

MOPAR RER MYGIG NORTH AMERICA
Integrated Satellite. Integrated Bluetooth UConnect module, just add mic $37.50, plug and play!
2007 to early 2008 = 20gb hdd.
Early-Mid 2008+ = 30gb hdd.
2007-2008 = You can only use the AUX input for iPod/iPhone. Control via device.
2009+ = iPod/iPhone integration cable is available, see below.
ALL RER = Single CD/DVD. WMA/MP3. Sirius, requires antenna (you may have it if your radio has a SAT button). Navigation, requires GPS antenna. Uconnect module is built in, requires a mic kit $.
Link to purchase: MOPAR 82211860AB - MOPAR® MyGiG® Multimedia System with GPS Navigation for 2008 Jeep® Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited JK & Liberty KK - Quadratec or check classifieds.
Link to PDF for installation: http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Installation/103140.pdf

In 2011 the RER was changed to GARMIN.

UCONNECT MIC KIT FOR RER
Stand Alone Microphone Kit for customers with RER. $ Cheap!
The UConnect module is already built into the RER. This is one reason the system is pricey.
You just need this mic kit. Not the module/mic kit.
This will enable hands-free calling & voice control to for RER Uconnect GPS radios.
Link to purchase: Jeep Wrangler Uconnect Microphone Kit
Link to PDF: http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-US/imagehandler.ashx?id=14078
Roughly $37 from Justforjeeps.com or leeparts.com, you plug it into the back of the mygig.
The wire comes up right next to the top panel cover, and the mic sticks via 3M to any location
in that area. It's very stealth and looks great, works great, trust me!

GPS ANTENNA FOR RER
Manufacturer Part No: 5064350AA
This antenna is a must have for navigation features to function. Without this antenna, your Navigation feature will not function AT ALL. I've tested it.
This is plugged into the back of the RER Navigation system. The harness is blue. The wire is very short. There is a mounting dock already in your JK 2007-2010. The location is directly on top of your stereo, under the radio cover. It's to the left of your compass (if applicable). Installation takes minutes and there is no need for instructions. Most kits will come with wire ties or 3m tape to secure the antenna.
Link to purchase: RER GPS Antenna ('07-'09 Wrangler) edit, 2007-2010.

This ^ antenna above can be purchased for any MYGIG RER 2007-2010.
The antenna will mount like OEM in any 2007-2010. NOT 2011.
This antenna can also be used with a MYGIG RER 2007-2010 in a 2011, however:
You will plug the antenna into the back of the radio, and mount the antenna in same
area that it would in a 07-10 JK, but there will not be an OEM mount waiting for the antenna.
You must fasten the antenna with wire ties, velcro, or 3M to any area above the radio (similarly)
to a 07-10 installation, but you will have to make it work yourself.
The reason for this is simple. The 2011 JK MYGIG RER = Garmin.
They use the same antenna for both SAT and GPS.

iPod/iPhone INTERFACE CABLE FOR 2009+ RER ONLY
Manufacturer Part No: 82211853
IMPORTANT NOTES: Discontinued by Mopar -
SOME PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED ISSUES WITH THE LATEST VERSIONS OF THE IPOD INCLUDING IPOD TOUCH AND IPHONE. APPLE IS WORKING ON A FIRMWARE UPDATE. PLEASE CHECK ITUNES REGULARLY.
I HAVE DONE SOME TESTING PERSONALLY AND EXPERIENCE MANY-MANY DIFFICULITIES WITH THIS CABLE AND A 2009 SYSTEM. NOT JUST CONNECTIVITY ISSUES, OTHER ISSUES AS WELL.

iPod integration means you can navigate your iPod through your radio controls, RER only. With this simple "plug and play" hook up, your iPod/iPhone stays securely attached, out of view and continually charging. There is enough cable to reach the glove box and then some. But not enough to reach the center console.
IMPORTANT NOTES: If you have a 2009-2010 Jeep Wrangler with factory RER, this cable is for you. If you add an RER to your Wrangler, it must be a 2009+ model RER unit for this cable to work. This will NOT work with a 2007-2008 model RER. I have tested this, do not try it.

LOCKPICK2 MOD FOR MYGIG RER & REN & REN+RSC:
This part is required to unlock all blocked features of your MyGIG.
If you purchase and install this part ($199.00 on ebay) you will gain:
DVD Playback While In Motion
Navigation Address Input While In Motion (RER)
Enable Backup Camera Input For Aftermarket Installations
Enable VES (Rear Entertainment Mode)
Video And Audio Input For iPod, iPhone, Computers, Or Video Games
Programmable DIP Switches Enable Or Turn Off Specific Functions
Works With All MyGIG Radios

Link to a seller on ebay that I can recommend from personal experience. This is based on price and extremely fast and reliable support:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/222438882042?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Be sure order the part for JEEP, seller name " kimber1072 " is located in NYC.
When I get good service, I spread the word.

MOPAR REN MYGIG
Similar to RER except: NO NAVIGATION. NO INTEGRATED BLUETOOTH UCONNECT.
2007-2008 RER = 20GB HDD.
2009 = 30GB HDD.
REN + RSC = SIRIUS MODEL.
REN without RSC = NO SIRIUS (antenna required).
ALL REN = Single CD/DVD. WMA/MP3. HDD. NO Navigation.
Again, REN doesn't have the uconnect module. You need the module/mic kit $$.
Link to purchase 20gb REN + RSC: REN AM/FM/Satellite MP3 Player with 20 GB HD - Jeep Grand Cherokee, Commander, & Liberty - Item # 5064242AK, 5064243AL, 5064244AK & 5064245AL
Again, try to find a 2009 model = 30gb hdd.
Link to PDF: see RER pdf

In 2010 the REN was replaced with RBZ.

The next two iPhone/Ipod cables are confusing. There are two options in the first listing. And the second listing is for the older part. Listed here as a resource.

First, thank you for answering

1. I have a Jeep kk (EU Cherokee / Liberty USA). 2008.
2. The radio installed is the RB2 want MyGIG a Jeep Compass.
3. When the fan connect sounds but not see anything on the screen.

thank you.
New member here, question requiring the expertise I've seen demonstrated by several of you here, if I may and if y'all don't mind. I am trying to replace the stock 130 radio in my 2007 Wrangler Unlimited with a newer stock radio (don't want aftermarket, doors/top off 6 months/year and don't want thieves getting any ideas). I got a NTG4 REN 430 (believe it is from 2008/2009 vehicle). I've read all the forum posts but not much on the REN, unfortunately. I tried plug and play but would only illuminated when initially turn ignition on then go black...nothing. I'm not sure if it is a CANBUS speed issue (from what I can tell, it's not supposed to be) or what. I don't care about the Uconnect feature, sat nav isn't a deal breaker (would be nice but don't think the 430 radio comes with it anyhow), but would like to use the hard drive for music storage, and the DVD to watch shows while waiting for kids' activities to end, or taking a break from driving, etc. My 2007 is bone stock, no steering wheel controls or anything like that. No infinity speaker system (no factory sub in back) and no other upgrades to sound system other than what came from factory. What do I need/need to do to make this factory radio swap work (other than going to stealership to overpay...unless that is only option)?

Get in touch with these guys mentioned below. I bought a complete radio upgrade for my '10 JK to include the backup camera kit. Worked excellent but I did just change the back up camera with a better unit.

You have to fool the brain into thinking the old radio is still there. Chrysler tried to prevent any radio upgrades so it seems, UNLESS they got a piece of the action....a LARGE piece ;-(

This might be the one you need.

Make sure you verify any information I gave you. OEM can help you with this.
radio swap update

Much appreciation to the advice provided in the forum, turns out the radio itself is bad, probably the motherboard. Did a hard drive swap with wife's radio in her van and her radio read my hard drive no problem. Tried to do the same with my radio and her hard drive but still nothing. It might be a bad screen but more than likely radio is just shot. Got a spare 30gig hard drive now and looks like I'm in the market for a new (to me) 430! Another lesson learned about mygigs in the books. Thanks guys!
Just an FYI, Apple IOS9 works fine on an iPhone 4s with the iPod adapter on a RER 730n.
Rep ?

I am from Namibia and my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2011 model has the REP Radio, Looking through the posts, I could not find any reference to REP
The hardware is a 720N REP

I would like to find out if there are any newer software available for it. From the unit system it show the following:

Uconnect 720N REP
system: 68310093.9

Application (firmware) ver 2.404
Gracenotes: ver 2.064
database PS10 S0939 3.1.0 SDS170901

Would there be a possibility to load maps onto it other than those supplied by Jeep, as those do not cover Namibia, Only our neighbouring Country South Africa. On my unit the nav option only show a black screen. I contacted Jeep and they said that it only have the south Africa maps and that Jeep have no plans to include Namibia. Garmin as well as Tracks4Africa do maps for Namibia (actually the whole of Africa) but how to load those onto the unit ?

Check there. Lots of info about Non NA radios.
REP Maps

thank you terpsmandan, I checked out the website, and at least now know that gracenotes and application is the latest for this unit, but no info regarding maps, or how to load other maps so I can at least use my expensive useless nav radio  Maybe one can take the HDD out and attach it to a PC then convert locals maps to the type that the unit use and upload that ? anyone know what kind of operating system the HDD use i.e Linux, or unix, or what ?
REN Unit

Hi everyone

I have an MyGIG REN Unit removed from a 2010 Challenger, the car has been sold, and i kept the unit

So now i have a 2008 jeep patriot with custom radio

My answer:

Can the REN unit be installed to the patriot?
See less See more
It is hard to tell based on the limited info provided - actual serial number may illuminate more clarity to its compatibility. The radio should be a low speed radio and your Patriot requires a low speed radio BUT it is hard to know if the radio requires the stealership to flash your radio (sync it to the Patriot). About 2010 they started making the anti-theft feature in the mygigs so it is hard to know if yours fits that description.

My answer:

If they're both low speed units, yeah, it should work just fine.
Aren't they a different shape?

Referring to my post #188 (10-02-2015) I have made peace with the fact that nothing can be done about it, I decided to than remove the 720N REP uconnect radio/nav system and get an aftermarket system that would be able to run maps that feature Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Zimbabwe, South Africa etc.

Here is what I found and hope that you can shed some light on the radio manufacturers response or advice I found a unit (Chinese made but ain't they all?) that tick all the right boxes, brackets, sizes all match and it can run the following maps desnav, igo, google etc, but the suppliers states that it will not work with a jeep that came with factory fitted GPS / Nav system as with the 720N that came with the jeep . . . why is that ? Why will it work in a jeep that came without nav system or let me rather ask . . . what will work and what not if I would purchase the radio ? What is your take on this, anyone that has installed these kind of nav radios in a wk2 ( here is the radio site http://www.witson.com/en/displayprod...roID=102121940 ) your input would be much appreciated, thank you.

Sorry for not reading through the entire thread as I haven't updated my RER unit for several years when updates were coming out fairly often.

Can someone confirm if the the last update to the RER radio was the 2.404 update?
Hopefully someone can answer this quick since I'm almost done installing my amp, but I need to know what the yellow/brown and yellow/pink(or light red) wires are. I am not sure where to connect the remote power wire coming from the amp. I have the 430N radio.
2.404 is the final update for the RER

Please read the entire listing before moving forward.

I have a long history of helping people with their updates.

1. If you purchase this listing, make sure that the email address that you have associated with your ebay/paypal account is monitored regularly. I may have questions for you.

2. You must tell me which radio code you have. For example RER/REN/REW/REU, etc.

3. You must tell me which software version you have, and which gracenotes version you have. If you have a corrupt hard drive, I need to know that now, and every bit of information you can give me.

4. For RER/REW users, if your clock is stuck at 12:00 let me know! And if you have a bad hard drive (corrupt), and your clock was stuck before, let me know!

Read number two and three again, so that you remember.

If you require more than one update, don't worry. Just purchase this one item, my sale is all inclusive.

I'm not here making a mint helping people. Just providing honest assistance, and covering my costs.

Q: How do I tell which type of MyGIG Radio I have?

A: Look on the lower right hand side of your radio. It will say RER,REN,etc..

The radio types are as follows:

RER is the US Navigation radio

REW is the European Navigation Radio

REP is the Rest of the World Navigation Radio

REN is the US non-Navigation

there are more! RBZ & RHB, etc.

All radios: +RSC means Sirius satellite integrated.

To determine how old the software in your radio is currently and if it is recommended to update, press the MENU button and then select SYSTEM INFORMATION. The latest version MYGIG software available for RER/RW is 2.404. If your radio is displaying a lower/earlier number, this just reflects the possible build date of your radio and features available at that time.

Important operational issues have been identified which may be reason to install and update the current system software. This may include several different types of intermittent problems and operations. Also, many may experience issues with using the uCONNECT bluetooth phone system when pairing to an iPhone.

The latest software addresses these issues and includes the bonus of automatically removing the "ACCEPT" button press after displaying it for a few seconds. This may be reason enough for many to wish to update :) Many other enhancements to graphics and displayed real-time Sirius traffic information have recently been added as well.

This service is to assist people who have Mygig radios with outdated software and gracenotes.

I will ship you disks that will update your radio.

You can't download them from me because burning is tricky.

Updates for Mygig units are broken down into two departments:

1. software cd (basically firmware for your radio)

2. gracenotes dvd (for folks who rip music into their hdd)

GRACENOTES UPDATES for REN and RER are the same.

First, what is GRACENOTES? These dvds are only going to be helpful for those who rip music from cd or usb into your hard disk drive (hdd). The unit uses gracenotes to first identify the music, and help to properly display the artist, title, tracklist, and other information. They take hours to load. If you do want them, just let me know.

This listing has nothing to do with map/navigation updates.

Folks who are interested in navigation updates, you can purchase those at the dealer or navteq.

They are not included with your warranty.

And you can't get them on ebay or used. They are licensed.

These updates are for radios that were sold with vehicles 2006 through 2010.

Software Update List for RBZ & RHB Radios:

If you have a radio with 08.05.01 or 10.00.11 or 23.04.41 software, it's quite old, you need an update for sure.

I provide: 23.04.41 and 33.01.23 and 50.01.01

Software Update List for RHR & RHW & RHP Radios:

If you have a radio with anything lower than 2.184 it's quite old, you need an update for sure.

I provide: 2.136 & 2.184 & 2.700 (which just came out Spring 2017).

I also include Gracenotes 4118 & 5411 IF you rip music into your hdd, otherwise I don't send them.

Software Update List for RER & REW Radios:

If you have a radio with 9.xxx or 1.xxx software, it's quite old, you need an update for sure.
