Hey ya'll! Today I dropped the transmission pan and swapped out the two filters in the transmission of my 2001 WJ 4.7l v8 Limited. Bought the jeep about two months ago for 300 dollars. Previous owner didn't want anything to do with it and thought it humorous that I believed I could g ed t it running again. The jeep currently has 191,450 miles on it and I use it every day for my commute to and from work. I have worked on this vehicle almost every day and really appreciate all of the forums and contributions from the fellow Jeep owners who have the extensive experience dealing with the common issues that arise due to wear and tear or the neglected maintenance of vehicles. I have only been able to succeed with every effort I have put forth on my Jeep because of all of the valuable resources and advice ya'll contribute. Thank you!
In the process of changing my transmission fluid, clinging to the magnet on the pan was a piece of metal that I can not identify. Initially I thought it was a piece of the actuator plate cover mounted on the valve body but I could see that the entire plate was intact. I scoured the exploded view of the transmission (545RFE) and am unable to locate its origin. I have a slightly hard upshift on 2nd-3rd but no other issues with the drivability. I'm stumped! If ya'll have any ideas, I welcome some fresh ideas because I am out of them. Thanks again!
