This is my son's 1981 cj8 scrambler, he bought it in 2015 when he was 15 yes old. This jeep was a total basket case mechanically but solid frame and body. His dream was to build a rock crawler, so the project started. It was his daily driver to school and work so we worked out all the mechanical problems when he got paid all day and all night on the weekends. 2 years later over the summer it was time for upgrades bigger tires 35s, GM small block, th350, dana 300 conversion, winch, spare tire rack and all new guages, cables and switches. He sat me down one day and showed me a video of trail to sema on you tube and a show on extreem 4x4 of a scrambler build and said this is my dream dad this is what I want the jeep to look like and this is were I want to take it. August 12 2017 my son fell victim to teen suicide. In August of 2019 i was going thru alot of depression and isolation from family and friends, my wife took me into the garage pulled the cover of the jeep and told me to finish his jeep they way he wanted it done. I belive this is what has saved me and kept me moving forward. Every day I work on his jeep I feel him there asking why or what is this for. As of today December 14 2020 the project is getting closer and closer to being trail worthy. I hope with the help of friends and family the last few projects will be done by August 12 2021 for his memorial get together organized by his friends.
