Where can one obtain a service manual, stating what needs to be done at every service, as well as what quantity of spares (filters, oil, etc.) are needed for a WKII Overland with the 3.0 CRD VM Motori engine?
I have found the answer which I will post to perhaps help others. The ELSD rear differential has two plugs which appear to be fill plugs. The proper one to use is the pass side 8mm hex and not the rear facing 10mm hex plug. I removed the side fill plug and retrieved most of the expensive lube that I added. So in reality I was only low about 6-8 ounces. The Amsoil site says it holds 2.7 pts.Doing the 40K mile maintenance on my 2016 Summit and the ELSD (rear axle) seemed a tad low. So I got a quart of the $45 special gear oil from FCA and was surprised that it took almost the full quart before it ran out of the fill plug. Anybody else have this happen? There are no leaks or problems, so it looks like this may have been low from the start. I am the third owner and the previous owners had dealer service.
Look for a quality "seat hammock" that fits over front and rear headrests posts. It helps prevent your dog from falling into the footwell behind the front seats. Put some heavy duty plastic bins in the wells to level things out. A good hammock will have a nylon bar attached to the back underside that gets shoved between the seat base and back. Some also have flap to cover the sides. But... your dog will most likely damage the rubber door seal with time.Got my Trailhawk! Now I'm experiencing ColdCase's "miles of smiles" -
I have a couple questions about maintenance, not mechanical but I don't see a more relevant thread:
I have two choices for parking - my driveway, in full sun. I've ordered window shades all round. Or, under a tree that is a favorite spot for birds completing their digestion. So which is less worse for the paint, sunshine or bird poop?
Also, the interior is black and my dog is cream colored. Can anyone recommend seat covers, along with any other hair-avoidance methods? The back seat cover in particular needs to hold up under a large enthusiastic dog.
Thanks in advance -
