Hi All -

I just purchased a new '01 Ltd. 4.7L with only 53,000 miles! I have big plans for this baby, but first things first. I need TIRES.

Anyone know what the largest All-Terrain tires I can get under this without a lift? It has 235/65r17 now, and its pitiful. HELP!

If your plans include a lift, I would get the cheapest ones possible if you really need them. Especially if you are going to do the lift relatively soon. The only reason why I say this, is because I was in your situation. I really needed tires, I bought 4 new tires ( a good set). 4 months later, I lifted the jeep 2" and got another set of tires. I am kicking myself in the ***. Now I have 4 practically new tires sitting in my basement. That's an extra $500 that I could have used for mods or put towards a bigger lift!

I too just purchased an 01 WJ,although a Laredo 4.0, (replacing my wrangler that caught on fire) and am curious as to what the max tire size is i can fit STOCK. Let's just say for some reason i didn't want to put a lift on it...maybe with the lights on top it wouldn't fit in the garage or something...just an example really...

maybe 30" but that's pushing it.. you can't really go much more than stock. I'd recommend a 2" bb and 31's.. but you have to have stock wheels for that. if you get a 2" bb and something like cregar soft 8 wheels, you can only run about 30" again because the offset pushes the wheels out towards the fenders

i got 2000 Larado and 2" bb lift, i put 16" ATX Preditor rims on the truck which have a ton of offset and i am tuckin 31"s with no rubbin

Just put 245/75r16 (about 30.6in tall) on my WJ with no problems. still flexes and is obviously easier to tuck. It is going up with a 2" bb this week but as far as a stocker gose I think these are spot on. Plus they won't look bad with extra 2" nor rub when flexing the two inch.

I have 245/70/16 on my 2000 Lerado. They rubbed a little in sharp turns, so I trimmed the inner fender plastic thingy. Now, no more rubbing :2thumbsup:

i ran 245/75/16's on mine stock and with a BB, no problems

i ran 265-70-17(32s) with very minor trimming! later after than i got a BB and realized i didnt need to trim!

I also have an 01 wj. limited 4.7, i also put the 2in BB and i fit 31s no problem. No rubbin even fully flexed out. cheapest way to go if you cant go any longer without tires.

2"BB 31x10.5x15 on Cragar soft 8's. Minimal trimming and I only really trimmed because in reverse the tires would rub the lower corner of the bumper. Good clean fit. For the front you dont really need to worry too much about the offset of a Cragar as long as you dont disco the front sway bar. My back tires still tuck nicely into my fenders and dont rub all that much. However I would suggest bending the inner lip of the fender up a bit so that tire fits even better.

But as a reminder, my tires did rub my fenders and my bumper depending on how hard you are flexing. So when I would really test my jeep and disconnect the sway bar I remove my fenders as not to damage them. Also my idea of a little rubbing might be a lot of rubbing for you. Cruise through a lot of these forums. This question has been asked before many times.

I used to have a 2" BB with 265/75R16s and they rubbed quite a bit because they were so wide. At stock height don't go more than 30" with tires, the width is what kills fenders more than the height in most cases.
