I am building a jeep on a budget while attending college and doing all I can to put together a very well built jeep while keeping the price down. I am on the never ending goal of beating the Just Empty Every Pocket stereotype of jeep but even when I get a deal on one thing I just buy more with the extra money in my pocket! Although I continue to fail I love spending time working on the jeep and wheeling with new people! I am also new to the forum and hope to continue to meet new people and come in with a bang! Its not just a hobby but it has become a lifestyle I am forever hooked into it and wouldnt have it any other way!

Story

My love for wrenching on cars and all things automotive began as a child. Helping my dad work on the family cars as a kid was the spark that started it all for me. After graduating high school I purchased a '90 mustang that was a former Texas highway patrol car. Wrenched on it making it a street/strip car until I eventually went all out on it. I turned it into a full blown trailer queen drag car. I raced NMRA series super street outlaw class. The rules were pretty wide open with exception of the fact you had to run true 10.5" wide tires. Best 1/4 mile time it ever ran was 7.71 @ 191 MPH. Then came marriage and kids, the car had to go. About 6 years ago my father-in-law had a '88 YJ. I helped him put a lift on it and do just general maintenance as he has no mechanical ability. That opened my life up to the Love and Joy of Jeeps. My first Jeep was a '99 TJ that I loved and fixed it up to a very capable rig. I installed ARB lockers and 35" tires and it was a blast.

As my family grew and my wife and I had our second son. The need for more room cause me to sell the TJ and buy a 4 door. We purchased a used '07 JKUR. It already had a lift and quite a lot of work already done. I re-geared it to 5.38 amongst other things but honestly there was more and more things about it that I didn't like. I wanted to build a new Jeep up from scratch the way I wanted. With the support of my wife we sold the JKUR and purchased a new 2013 JKU Sport S. Everything you see done was done by me alone in my garage. The rest is history, see my build for more details. Thanks for taking the time to read about my build.

Story (optional):Ive originally owned a 05 TJ and then a 96 ZJ. Sold both and went away for a while with a 2010 chev Z71. Went back to my roots and traded the chevy for my 2007 JKUS. It was a good deal with only 13,000 miles. Moved to England and brought the JKU with me. its a big change of wheeling dynamic when u go from crawling up rocks to straight mud holes and puddle jumping. Any type of wheeling is an adventure. Ive had the once in a lifetime opportunity to drive the jeep to Scotland, France, Germany, Austria, and Wales. My next adventure is to drive to South africa on my own safari. Next mod will be Auxillary fuel tank for the trip.

Jeep forum has been there for me with every jeep. Support the community! thanks to everyone for their help over the years.

(STORY)
I bought my 2008 Jeep JKRU 3 years ago used with only 16,000 miles on her and bone stock with the intentions to do only a mild build.. I'm sure some of you are laughing by now! I guess where my build went out of control is when my buddy who use to race desert trucks started to help me in my build process. Seemed like every time we got together the plans grew and became more complicated. One thing led to another and before I knew it we had pulled the axles, cut a 4 foot hole in the back of the tube for the coilovers to travel though and started building a cage! My entire build took place in my buddies garage for over a year! Many many hours/beer and lots of screaming went into this jeep! So many conversation ended with "well..nows the time to upgrade while it's apart if I'm gonna" and I did! I couldn't have done this build without my good friend Matt. He has taught me so much and I thank him for it!

We wheel every chance we get and have tackled most the parks here in Tennessee. Jeep performs flawlessly on the trails and can hang with the big boys. As all jeeps they are never finished you know there is still lots to do. Time is always against us. Come January we plan to install the King coilovers on the front/engine cage, rear antirock, make removable B pillars and custom aluminum dash for all my Autometer gauges.

My 2011 JKUR has been a work in progress for me. I only get to work on it between deployments so I get alot of time to spend here talking to other members and learning about new mods and products. I wasn't going to enter this year since I have been deployed since I won last year and my last break at home was short but I figured in the holiday spirit I would help fill the field. I haven't gotten to do everything I have wanted to it but then who ever gets to or wants to finish their favorite project? This thing makes me smile everytime I see it or drive it.

Other Randoms upgraded items: Reid racing knuckles, brakes + Brake lines, exhaust, battery, some wiring, massive mods made to fit 42's cutting trimming and such.

Near future Mods: PSC front bumper on order, rock lights, possible change for spare mounting, after I see how the 42's handle in Moab if not happy I might downgrade to 40's, need to get skid plates for oil and tranny pans (Already destroyed oil pan).

Story. I drove from Minnesota out to Idaho to buy this 2010 Rubicon New, it has been a fun and not very cheap hobby. Everytime I find something I want to do or crawl up that I cannot, I decide to make new upgrades. As most Jeeps this is a never ending storie, but one I am enjoying to the fullest. UPDATE: After my 1st trip to Moab, and breaking a drive shaft and rear pinion, it was time to go bigger or go home... So the money and time pit began. I will be heading out to Moab for my 3rd time this coming spring, I cannot wait to check out how it handles the slickrock after my recent round of upgrades.

I update my build thread on this forum step by step as I go and I hope it has inspired some of you just how some of you have inspired me. This is Dirty Gerty. She is a 2012 JKU. I purchased her brand new in October of 2011. I started saving up and started building her in April of 2012. Things have slowed with the addition of our little man, but I still drive her daily. I have emptied every pocket, and this is where she is today. Thanks for looking! Cheers!

I am sure I am leaving out some smaller mods and accessories, but here is what I can think of.

The Story

We both were four wheelers and had Jeeps before we met and married, and have had several jeeps together. We are old school wheelers who don't drink the "bigger is better" Kool- aid; A good driver, a good spotter and a good Jeep can go almost anywhere we want. While most of the parts are bolt on, if you look close, you'll see some custom fab work. Our mods were meant to be dual purposed, making it capable off road but keeping it stable and comfortable on road.

Background Story
2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara
Started life out right away to be built for the 2012 London to Cape Town South Africa World Cup Rally. It has since transformed a few times and now a total transformation from a race proven jeep to a daily driver and often wheeled. Mostly hand built by me and a good friend. We are in the process of building a cantilever for the rear just for old triple bypass shocks from the race.

And the usual recovery gear... Straps, first aid kit, etc.

Story.
Purchased this jeep in 01/2013 fairly well built with 6" Tera long arm, speed bumps, built rubicon axles, bumpers, lights, 37s, etc. It was a very capable built jeep and was wheeled and driven most of the year in the way it was purchased. Sold the axles wheels and tires in November and built the one tons...... And it snowballed from there. I didn't pay much for the jeep in the beginning because it needed a little work and that is why I did one tons so soon, and the hemi, that is another reason for one tons.
This jeep is my first jk but I also have a tj unlimited on one tons, a 5.9magnum motor, 40s, etc. I really like the 4 door for how it drives and rides..... It has become my baby in the short time I have owned it.

Story:

When I was just a little tot, my cousin had a red CJ8 Scrambler that I got to ride around in. It was the coolest thing in the world. In July of 2009, I was finally able to buy my first Jeep, a '01 Jeep TJ Wrangler. I modded and wrenched on it, having a blast through all the good and bad times. In February of 2012, my health started to change. Being the extremely stubborn person that everybody loves and hates, I finally went to the doctor in April. Turns out I had been living with Type I diabetes for two months. After some education and looking back on those two months, there were a few times where I was teetering on the verge of some very life threatening things. It kind of alters one's outlook, and I decided to focus more on doing the things I enjoy. Traded in the TJ for a brand new JK in September of 2012. The very next day, I joined a Jeep club and have had some of the most memorable times in my short life.

I am very proud to be able to say that I have done most of the work. Minus the

gears and rear locker and any welding. It works mostly but like with any work

in progress, it has had some hiccups. I am not a mechanic or an automotive

specialist so I learn a lot from trial and error and reading and asking

questions. 37s are in my very near future. Very excited for that.

2012 JKR
Been into off road since 1975. We have had a jeep in our lives since then. Our latest jeep here is mainly for off road. Though it does get to go to the store and back. This is its last year to "drive" it there too as we are putting it on a trailer. We are in two Jeeps clubs here and spend our vacation time going destination trails in California and Utah and other states out west. Now that she will be a trailer queen we plan to take it to next level over the next few years.

Story: Bought my first Jeep (this one) in November 2008. Shortly afterwards I joined JeepForum and started the mods. I do a lot of towing, and was frustrated with the lack of power with the 3.8L so I installed a RIPP supercharger as my first mod. Later I joined a local 4x4 club, and the mods really began. Considering the hilly area in the southeast, I decided to go with a LCOG rig, large tires (37's) / minimal lift (2.5").

This has been a hobby of unlimited options, one I enjoy greatly. Every time I crawl under the Jeep I come up with new ideas. The wife and I enjoy the monthly club rides, Jeep Beach, and whatever Jeep events we can find. Hope someday to make it out west to Moab and play in the big rocks.

Story:
Bought it new in July of '07 with the "Rubi-Lite Package", X with the Rubicon locking rear Dana 44 and electric swaybar disconnect. Last year I broke my stock axles trying to get out of my backyard stream, broke 10 teeth off the front ring gear and blew out both rear axle seals. Instead of rebuilding those axles I found a set of built and re-geared Rubicon take offs that I installed under the Jeep. Its favorite place to play is Rausch Creek in Central PA.

Story:
I bought my 2011 JKUR new with big plans on what I wanted to do with it but since then I ended up deploying 3 times. My build was always on hold and I got to work on it while I was home on leave or between jobs. It was a good thing in the end because I got to do a lot of research and take my time. I finally got my Jeep to a middle ground, not to big but completely functional for everyday driving. It makes me smile every time I get into it and I could not imagine not being able to drive it everywhere I go. Since April 2014 I have had the chance to wheel it in Florida, Hawk Pride in Alabama, Uwharrie National Forest in North Carolina and I just returned from the JK Experience in Washington State and Oregon this past September. My Jeep has taken me everywhere I have ever wanted it to and I would not hesitate to put the time and effort into it again. I love that the work was done by me and I learned so much. The future only hold dreams of a bigger build and more miles on and off-road.

Story:

This is Dirty Gerty. She is a 2012 JKU. I purchased her brand new in October of 2011. I started saving up and started building her in April of 2012. Things have slowed with the addition of our little man, but I still drive her daily. I have emptied every pocket, and this is where she is today. Thanks for looking! Cheers!

I am sure I am leaving out some smaller mods and accessories, but here is what I can think of.
