Hello, I've been rebuilding my front axle recently. Installed new yukon gears and new set of bearings.
Since it's the first axle and first ring and pinion I've ever done I wanted to check with someone else my contact pattern.
For me it looks pretty much in the centre between flank and face (what is most important according to installation manual) but maybe I'm missing something here?

I get the backlash reading of 0.13-0.14mm (~0.0055") which is on the lower end of the specs (0.12-0.20mm 0.005"-0.008") for dana 30 186. The preload of the pinion I get with seal installed is 18 inch lbs.

thanks! actually I had no spreader tool but reused the original shims that was in the axle. Those shims were pretty thick, being 3mm and more. So I had no problem tapping them with something in.
Getting out the carrier was pretty hard thought...
