Finally got a chance to wheel the WK after all the mods this past weekend up north at the Iron Rock Offroad customer appreciation event. It was myself, my gf and her XK, a buddy w/his JK Rubicon, and another buddy w/his lifted ZJ. I've been to this offroad park plenty of times w/previous XJ's, but this was the first time wheeling w/the WK. Getting used to the IFS took some changing of wheeling habits, but I have to say the QDII setup is quite amazing. I never got stuck, but did get high centered a couple times on some boulders. Every single piece of armore was put to the test. Including the rock rails supporting the weight of the jeep. The front skid also got a chance to do that, but didn't fare to well. I should say the skid held up great but the mount bent and the guard pushed into the unibody/radiator support and bent it in two places. Other casualty was the passenger rear wheel facing was pushed into a rock and forced the rear to the drivers side causing the DS to get caught on the gas tank skid pulling it down some and marring the DS weights and boot.

The GF also got to wheel her XK but after picking the wrong line on a steep decline w/out a spotter she had it on two wheels and that was the last of the wheeling for her for the weekend lol.

Casualties for the weekend:
WK-Multiple scratches, cracked rear/front bumper(minor), bent unibody support, two chewed up rims, dented gas tank skid, multiple gouges in armor, and molested DS.
XK-a few scratches and a shook up GF.
JK- Scratches, plugged radiator, and blown cooling fan(we had to do a parts store parking lot hayden fan swap).
ZJ-Scratches and both rocker panels dented pretty good.

Our mascot for the weekend, The Dude. Yes he is posing as a real-life Mack emblem haha!

I know right? We brought the HD camera and it sat in the camper the whole time. Winter is fun hi there. A bit hairy but fun. Could probably stay in Virginia or somewhere close.
yeah true that yeah ive heard you basically just need to point the jeep where you want it to go and floor it. would suck to break and have to fit it there though. we shall have to see. if ill be doing alot of tire spinning, i for sure want to have that 8.8 in by then haha
Looks like you guys had fun. I wasn't able to go because I broke my wrist. It's almost healed now, but I wish I could have gone...
Great post, Tosh. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun - and hope your gf will recover from such a large dose of wheeling, lol. Excellent Vid's... Makes me wanna wheel my WK again... but then that would entirely defeat the purpose of why I got a ZJ.
You really got the use out of those skids up there and did grant or anyone else try to get up that rock?
^ i will when i get my armor haha. i did it in my cherokee but went from the other side. and sean yeah forgot to tell yeah my tierod is bent too haha
I would of wanted to try it but so goodbye to my already rotten rockers but Im trying to make a deal for some 2x6 steel to build my rockers for mine.

Lot of fun that's for sure.

I think I was the only one crazy/pigheaded enough to hit those rocks with our current setups. Haha!

Dang Grant! Know what obstacle did it in? Time for OTK setup.

lol you going higher? yeah if i had sliders and skids i might have done it. im gonna find an 8.8 here soon once i part out the xj and put the otk in from the old xj plus a new steering box haha.

and i think it was that one trail where i needed to be spotted over that rock. when i first hit it i hit it pretty hard and i thought it was just my diff but i guess not lol. i had a spare from my xj in the garage so i just threw it in for now
Oh yeah I remember that trail. Thinking about it. have some crazy ideas but will more than likely stay at this height and work on the armor of bumpers!
Are you goimg to get a stock steerimg box or upgrade to a durango box I may be goimg to johns auto parts tommorow and get some new lines for the trans and my box has been clunking sem
Nce I went to wisconsin wheelimg so I may invest+

And sean what type of bumpers you goimg to get or thimkimg about¿
Sean your WK looks Great bud! Glad to see you are putting it to the test. Looks like you guys had a blast.

What are you planning for the radiator support? You could have one make out of chromoly tube to take hits better next time. After seeing what you did I am thinking of strengthening mine now! It also looks like you need to extend your track bar a little to keep it off of your gas tank skid.

Anyway, Good Times! Thanks for sharing!:2thumbsup:

nice man im thinking of just getting that RC winch plate so i can run a winch and just wait until my bumper cover gets smashed off. a buddy of mine at work said he can make me a bumper dirt cheap too so we will have to see but idk a grand just doesnt look right with just a front aftermarket bumper it needs a rear too so maybe ill just do them both at the same time haha
