I have an e-mail in on this as to see if the gas charge is high enough, that being said we design the mounting points for the various application can down, so that would be something that would have to be addressed.
I will up date on the possibility of a rod up mounting.
EDIT
It WILL not work inverted, only our monotube could be run "upside" down.

I just installed these on my 99 TJ. Run smooth on road and great response off pavement on some fire roads! Great product so far
