HISSING AC SOUND

I have a hissing sound that comes in my Jeep GC wk2, when I turn on the air conditioning. It stops when I turn it off.

Has anyone ever faced this issue? If so, what was it and how did you fix it?

I had this sound on my 2015 Limited. Eventually, the AC quit cooling. It was due to low refrigerant, in my case caused by a leak in the condenser. I had the condenser replaced and the system recharged, and it was fine again with no hissing. However, that was about 2 years ago, and now it's hissing again. I think I'll need at least another recharge, but it's obviously still leaking somewhere.

Mine was a leak in the evaporater. 2015 Overland. My warranty covered it, otherwise would of been a $2200 bill at the dealer.

2012 Jeep - Mine was also the evaporator.

Did this by chance cause you smell in the cabin after accelerating?

Not on my vehicle. Just a darth vader like sound that was quite annoying.

Mine just hissed when I started the AC up and also when I ran it at a low speed. Had a slight smell from the dye the dealer added to find the leak.

Is the AC still blowing cold? If so it is more likely to be an issue with the blend doors behind the dash that direct all the various airflows to the correct places. Search this form, there are plenty of threads on this issue.

ohh. im having this rotten smell when i accelerate but only comes when i turn the AC on
