I have an 01 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7 l v8 with quadra drive and a 247 tc. My buddy found a quadra trac 2 tranny. He says theres no major difference and will not damage my rear end or my front drive. Is he correct? Can anyone clarify this for me.

The 247 came in both quadra trac II and quadra drive. The difference between the two is that quadra drive has vari-lok axles and quadra trac II doesn't. The V8 came with the 545rfe transmission and the 4.0l 6 came with the 42re. This has nothing to do with the 247 transfer case aside from different input shaft length. If you have a v8 find a transmission from another v8 4wd WJ, it doesn't matter what 4wd system you have. The only thing that wouldn't work is a transmission from a 2wd V8 since the tail housing is different. Of of course a 42re from a 4.0l 6.
