Driving around today, heard a knocking/rubbing sound. Crawled underneath and saw this.

Noticed a shiny ring on the back of the balancer, as it is rubbing on the timing cover.

Looks like its time to change that out. Are they all the same or is there a better one to get?

The OEM style ones are fine, unless you want to spend a lot more money. I would also check that cover to see if its leaking, you might have to replace or replace that too. And if I was replacing the that cover, I would install a timing chain too if it was the original.

Bought this jeep from a repair shop. They claimed the timing chain had been changed in 2020 just before I bought it.

Have had 2 of them fail on Zjs…you will need 2 different sets of pullers from autozone to complete the job. Best if you pull the radiator out of harm’s way too.
Dont forget the installer too. Dont use the crank bolt to pull it in.
