Quick question for anyone that got the Fuel pump relay recall done....how do you know it was done?
Is there an obvious way to tell? Is there an extra relay coming from the TIPM, or something you can physically see with your eyes?
I thought I saw some pictures of a new relay box Jeep technicians put in front of the TIPM as a separate box. Maybe I am wrong.
Can someone please clarify for me?
Pictured is my current TIPM...and I can't see anything was done to it. I thought the recall calls for an external fuel pump relay outside the TIPM? I don't see one in my picture below.

Thank you for the help. I really appreciate it. :cheers2:

Looks to me like you have an external fuel pump relay mounted right next to your TIPM. The rectangular black square thing in your pic, right next to the inner fender. It also appears you have an inline fused power wire leading from the TIPM towards that "relay"? So I would say you have the fuel pump relay recall done to your Jeep

It's the black thing to the left of the silver TIPM cover, as you're looking under the hood. (Or black thing at the bottom, the way the photo uploaded.)

You can log into the owners portal at Jeep.com and see what recalls were done and any outstanding ones. That is just a documentation thing, nothing like pictures to verify.

The relay next to the coolant expansion bottle is the high speed fan relay the other black square in the middle of the bottom of the photo looks like the latest V62 recall relay.

The original attempt to fix this used a smaller relay, see the attached pdf

Awesome....thank you so much for posting this. Really good information.
I really appreciate it. Good to know it was done, and done correctly.

Thank you Rob...appreciate it.
I only asked because I figured it was done...but my Jeep just stalled in traffic last week only after a week after I purchased it. So I wanted to make sure there was a way to verify it.
Just because the dealership says it was done, or puts it in a carfax report, does not mean it really was done, or done correctly.

Hey Rob...just an update as of today. It stalled yet again coming off the freeway, and merging into traffic! Completely freaked me out! It was a total loss of steering and braking! This is totally unacceptable.
If this had been winter...I would have slid right into oncoming traffic!

The dealer trained technician didn't fix a thing after having it for 3 straight days, and doing drivability tests, and looking at all the wiring! Came up with nothing...and now it happened to me again today...stalled!
How is this going to be resolved?

@Brewcity73 -
I'm having the same issue with my 2011 Grand Cherokee.
All recalls have been done, and I am still having the stalling issue.

THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE!! A DEATH TRAP!

It's stall multiple times since the SECOND relay has been replaced.
It happened crossing a busy highway and the Jeep stalled WITHOUT warning. Cars coming from both directions...the gap is closing in on you to get your Jeep in park, restart, and get the hell out of the way before getting T-Boned. Practically ****ting my pants!

I've also had it while turning left across the oncoming lane of traffic and the Jeep stalls, again, NO WARNING, beside the power steering goes out and you have to hope you have enough strength to steer it out of the way to you don't get hit head on.

Yeah, this happens ALL.THE.TIME. Even after this "recall". This is ridiculous and NEEDS to be fixed the correct and the noble way!

From my understanding, Chrysler just put a "bypass" on this issue with the relay replacement. When in all reality, the TIPM needs to be replaced. This needs to be fixed!

I am so tempted to trade the Jeep in, but then again, if I do that, I have the guilt of the vehicle being sold like that and someone else having the same fricken issue and scenarios as I do!

I think it's disgusting what Chrysler is doing, just fix the damn thing the correct and legit way!

You took a wrong turn somewhere. The recall fixes a starting issue, rarely a stalling issue. Frustrating none the less.

You probably have a defect not related to the fuel pump recall fix, or even the TIPM, that is difficult to pinpoint. I'm sure you are tech savy enough to identify the issue as a bad TIPM anyway. So swap it out. The hardest part is swapping all the fuses.

I think if you search for stalling you will find several possibilities, most of which suggest corrosion or defects in a connector, usually the TIPM. But there are certainly others that was not solved. If you don't want to burden a subsequent owner with the problem and don't want to drive a death trap, sell it to a scrap/recycling yard and have them flatten it. Then move on.

Every manufacture makes problem children, look at some of the GM threads if you want to feel better :) .

Hi all,
I had a similar issue with my 5.7 last year.. just up-n-died in the middle of an intersection and would not start.. local Mech got her going again after Fiddling with Fuse box wiring etc. ran fine for a few weeks and then cut out again and would not start again.. he stripped fuel pump and refurbished it, as we were not aware of the relay issue at the time.. got her running again and two weeks later cut out and wouldnt start again.. then I read the about the relay issue and the recall story .. purchased an off the shelf relay box from our local spares shop.. changed the one in the Jeep, sealed it up nicely with electrical shrink tape to stop moisture and humidity (I Live on the Coast) and hey presto.. one year later and still running very nicely.. I now carry a spare relay box in the glove compartment!!
