Hello,

Working on a friends jeep with a parking brake that barely grabs.

I went to adjust them with the little star wheel adjuster and they would not move. Took the wheel off and saw that the stopper is not there. Is this just missing from someone not knowing how to rebuild the brakes kit?

Can I just buy a rebuild kit to replace all of the springs and such which includes the locking pin for the adjusting starwheel?

See photos attached.

Thank You

There is no locking pin on the star wheel. It's the tension from the spring riding on it that prevents it from turning on its own

Head over to Rock Auto and enter your Jeep particulars. You will see all the individual brake parts you can get. PS you don't have to buy them there any good jobber will have them.

If it were me, I'd replace everything while you're in there....full kits including drums, wheel cylinders and shoes run around $90 per side.

All those parts are available.

the star wheel should turn rather easily. I have broken free stuck star wheels with PB blaster and a vise (in emergency) but the replacement parts are cheap.

When you re-install, I would put grease in the star wheel thrads.

The self adjuster cable and lever are missing
Given the amount of rust there Id say replace all the hardware back there
