'97 ZJ Laredo 2WD w/206000 miles.

Driver's rear is making a distinct bearing noise and I have a whine from the differential. I might as well do a rebuild while I'm opening the differential for the axle bearing and know I won't have to open it again soon.

I'm just getting confused on what spider gears and rebuild kit I need. I'm trying to find the best bang for the buck without getting wrong/crap parts. Looking on some sites I see Dana 35 being referenced in the parts description and other places has AMC 35.

Are they the same?

Here's what I'm looking at buying.

Anything else that's easy to/should do while I'm in there? I don't want to get in there and realize I'm short a part (I know, what's the fun in that:wink2

Dana 35 and AMC 35 should be the same.

you ever set up a Dif? Doing a "first one" tends to be learning curve. might be one the harder things one could try to do. you will need a few specialty tools to do well. nothing in these is a its close enough thing . it must be rather dead on.

d35 might be less cost to get a junk yard one and just do the swap.

There will be some pizza and beer for one or two buddies who are mechanics and will be able to help if I need it. I want to learn as much as I can as we go about fixing the ZJ.
