Find an 8.8 with the gears you need already installed at the junkyard. Install yourself or pay a shop to install the axle. Itll be cheaper than paying them to set up gears in the crappy D35
This. Investing in brake shoes for a D35 is iffy, but once you get to gears and perhaps a housing it's time to toss it in the garbage.
