Another alternative is just cutting throught he weld and tube in one shot after establishing where the length cutoff needs to be.

No grinding involved this way and no need for a machine shop.

I had to cut twice. Once was to establish proper length, the other was to get the knuckle off of the tube.
Understood and so did I. By one shot I mean just make a slice through the weld, tube and possibly a small part of the knuckle with one cut of the chopsaw/bandsaw, rather than trying to grind the weld and then cutting.
