Code 53 and 32

Hello. I've been having multiple ongoing problems with my ZJ for a while now. The problem codes remaining are 53 (internal self test malfunction) and 32 (EGR solenoid circuit). My symptoms are as follows:
-Intermittent stalling after coming to a stop or going a very slow parking lot speed. Pops the 53 after this happens. After stalling, it'll crank but won't start unless I give it a lot of gas. The car then idles down like it's gonna stall again and takes a breath back up to a low idle.
-Loss of acceleration/it's sluggish. The speedo will bounce a bit as the car struggles to accelerate. Sometimes the tach will bounce up and down dramatically and the car usually stalls after I slow down or stop.
-ABS doesn't activate? No codes for this, relay has been swapped. Probably not related to these codes but worth mentioning maybe?

Based on what I read about code 53, it means my pcm is busted inside, so I just installed a refurbished one. I also have, but have not installed yet, a new EGR valve to resolve the code 32, but wanted to see if maybe the computer was causing all the issues first. I drove around town, pulled into a parking lot and it stalled. Drove back home and I popped code 53 and code 32 again. If the EGR is bad, could it be smothering the engine with dirty air causing a stall? But why code 53? Bad wiring in the connections to the pcm? Bad ground? What do y'all think...

what year and eng ?

Abertzj97 - could his be a 97?

I'm guessing a V8?

if this is a 97 zj I suggest you use a scanner and post ALL OBDII codes. P0404 type.

oops! originally I typed out the details. it's a 1994 5.2 V8. I used an OBDII scanner for the codes but didn't take note of the specific P- code names?
