CJ7 when brakes pressed, dash turn signal lights come on

I thought maybe someone had already had this problem and could guide me on how to track down this problem or maybe there is someone that understands the mysteries of electricity and what type of conjuring is required to find the offending spirits? Thanks a heap.

Could this problem be related to a failing turn signal switch?

bad ground for the rear tail light housing. the brake light circuit is reaching ground through backfeeding through the turn signal switch to the ground of the turn signal lights. Normally it is just as easy as taking the tail lights off and the cleaning up the metal around where the housing bolts on, on both sides of the tub and then bolting the lights back on.
