My 1984 CJ7s driver side door will open from the inside latch but not the outside. I’ve taken the door panel off and I can see that opening from the inside activates the rods more but I don’t understand why the outside latch won’t. If pictures are needed I can upload some. Thanks!

Hi, Is by chance the door locked? and the inside handle is not releasing the lock?

Is the “J” rod that drops from the outside handle down under the window back to the door latch anchored down? Mine has the same issue. The J rod moves sideways instead of up-down not giving enough movement to release the latch. I have to get the retaining clip spot welded to hold the J rod in place.

In my YJ (very similar door) the parts were all worn and bent a bit so that would happen. It just took some fiddling and tweaking to get it work again.
