so turned off car at gas station filled up with usual 87...went to turn back on lights come on inside, turn key to start nothing, not a click or even sound of cranking...then when i let go of the key the lights kind of reset like i had just turned the key to on position...continued to diagnose starter with screw driver to try and see if any jump or electric was going through and nothing seems like no current is going from the starter cylinder to the battery...im thinking my starter went? but i am unsure this is new to me

If you haven't already, check/clean your battery connections and grounds. When I first got my WJ I had all sorts of electrical gremlins, including several no-start situations like you've described. I can testify that this amazing ground repair thread / write-up exists for a reason. Cleaning and tightening my battery connections/grounds made a remarkable difference.
