Brand New Ky Offroad Club

Ok ladies and gentleman. Here it is, Kentuckys newest offroad club is here. It has been in the making for a few months now and finally we got everything we needed together to do it. Here is a little background:

It all started as a few friends in the lexington, ky area wanted to go offroading every now and then but also wanted to form some kind of club while doing it. There were already a bunch of KY jeep clubs around but we wanted our own. We were a bunch of college guys who wanted to have an organized and fun club to ride in who doesnt care about what kind of rig you have as long as it has four wheel drive and you can drive smart.

Now since we are not a "Jeep Only" club here on JF we must ask that if you post of start a thread it must be only jeep related. About 90% of the guys wanting to join the club are Jeep owners and are members of JF themselves so thats why we wanted to start a club section on here since so many of our future members are JF'ers.

Now to the actual club.

The name of the club is called:
T.O.R.C. Offroad

It stands for Twisted Off Road Club. We are based out of Kentucky are not limited to wheelin in Kentucky only. Hopefully as the club grows we can start wheelin in some of the bordering states as well as out west. Even though we do have some of the best wheelin this side of the Mississippi :D:D

We are still in the process of creating a club logo and website, but since our logo is for our club we would like to have the main picture a few jeeps from the club so at our next ride at Hillz N Hollarz on Feb 7th/8th (See Sig) we are going to take pictures and see what kind of club logo we can come up with. We have alot of good ideas now and the logo should be done right after the wheeling trip and hopefully by our first club meeting.

The website is:
www.torcoffroad.com

Is it currently under construction, but will be up within a few months after we get members rigs and all the official forms online that need to be. If anyone has the ability to make websites/forums please PM me so we can try and get something going.

Currently we open for ideas for when and where meetings will be held. We have many potential members in the Lexington area as well as alot of potential members from the Northern Kentucky area. So I was trying to figure out where would be the middle? Its about an hour from NKY to Lexington so cut that in half and we need to figure out what is about half hour away I guess. This is the only way because I know that many members from the NKY area cant drive an hour each way once a month and the same goes for people from Lexington. Again nothing is set in stone so please post up your concerns and ideas. Im open to anything.

As of right now there are currently only two officers. Me and Spyder6 (Will). I am currently the President/Secretary and Will is the Vice President/Treasurer. We hope to elect new officers at the 2nd meeting that way we can get a good group to show up and show interest.

As for the time and dates of the meetings we still need YOU, those who are interested in joining posting up what days and times you are free. I figure we will meet at a restaurant of some sort, get some food and just hang out and then after we have all gotten some grub hold the meetings. This way we all can get to know each other and when new potential members show up they are welcomed in and not made to sit and listen to club things right away.

I will be posting up applications and information as I get it officially done and then the by laws and rules and other paper work such as that will be given out at meetings and posted on our website when it comes up.

I hope we have alot of people interested and please post in here. Im excited about getting this up and running and hopefully we can become one of Kentuckys finest and most mature and responsible off road organizations. Thanks and have a great day!

Phillip, check out my new thread I posted in here. Read through it buddy!
looks good man, sounds good too. Maybe I can plan my craigslist trips to correspond with meetings lol. I got the itch so bad for a project its not even funny. Im a craigslist junkie just tryin to find a cheap decent project.......if those exist lol.
haha yeah i understand. Im always surfin on CL for somethin too lol
I started ut just looking for d44's and wound up calling about 2 jeeps lol. I wanna do a SOA build, like the guy who built the renegade in tech forum.
yeah but that rig is huge. Im gettin waggy dana 44's (actually picking up the rear one this friday) and plan on running 35 km2's SOA with built axles (just look in my sig) and would love to go huge with big axles like that but this is my DD and so even though it would be sweet, Im only gonna make my jeep half bad *** haha
dude post up a pic of your jeep, the only pics ive seen of it are in you jf thing.
My jeep isnt built yet, im gathering all the parts and my build will probably take place over a long weekend in june. But for now my jeep is fine for me, but Im also a good driver (I like to think so)

I really wish i would have bought the 4'' kit now. I dont think I could run anything at HnH like this

What are you talking about? You could definatly do plenty of trails, you just gotta take your time and pick the right lines and go slow. I wheeled at HNH on a sagging stock suspension with bald, dry rotted 30" tires plenty of times and only got stuck once and that was going through the huge mud pit which is used for mud bogging. You cant learn to wheel without doing it. Nice jeep!!

BTW, are you in Narnia^^^^^ That reminds me of the light pole in the Chronicles of Narnia movie haha
haha everyone asked me that. I was comin up from out of the field and actually thought it would make a cool narnia esque pic lol. The only thing that I worry about is that my jeep is my DD, in warmer weather I ride my motorcyle but until then its just the jeep.
That is the one thing everyone that I talk to about wheelin says, "Its my DD I cant wheel it at all". Maybe I have bigger coconuts than most people or something but my jeep is my DD as well, if it breaks Im screwed. More than 90% of the guys I wheel with, are in the club, or are interested in the club use their jeep as a DD. We all understand what ya mean man. What I tell them all is this, you have to know where to stop. Alot of guys get out on the trails and think they can do anything, or that with a little more skinny pedal they can do this or that. Sometimes ya get lucky, but alot of the times you just cant. Know how far your jeep can go, know when to stop and know which lines and what speed to use and you will be COMPLETELY fine. I promise!
We used to have a scrambler a few years back, and we wheeled the piss out of it then sold it after we bought my yj. My uncle has an old beater cj7 that I took out after we had some logging done, this was the first time in 3 jeeps that I have wheeled and got stuck........i got wedged between two trees lol. I just dont want to pour much more money into it until i do the axle and motor swap. This jeep has went through quite a few $$ in parts, the worst as of recent being a t case. My wallet cant stand for me to break anything else for a while lol.
Then like I said, know your limits. If you know them you will be fine. Sometimes if I see a trail that I would love to do but know I cant, I turn around and find another one. No one is gonna say your a ***** because you dont wanna break your rig. We're all about safety and being careful. Its all good Phillip!
Well hell im convinced now, maybe i can make the april meet......where ever that will be.
haha..Its up in the air right now, but I'll let ya in on a secret.... Possibly Natural Bridge/Red River Gorge area...possibly....
Well hell im convinced now, maybe i can make the april meet......where ever that will be.
You're not alone....they convinced me to take my 03 Grand Cherokee that is completely stock except a wimpy 2" BB and some bigger tires, my DD and only car that I have that will hold my 3 kids so I really, really kind of need it every day!! I went to HnH with 'em, got stuck once cuz I chickened out and had to be pulled back up a hill but it was a great time (and I wasn't the ONLY one who chickened out!!!).
I'll be there in March and if I don't want to do a trail I'll park my Jeep and beg a ride with someone else!! I don't think it'll be a problem, I was impressed with what my plain ole MallCrawler did in the mud!! (I'm easily impressed....):2thumbsup:
