Body Lift - Sahara

1834 Views 12 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  duneslider
I am a newbie to the Jeep world and am looking to install a 2" basic body lift kit with spacers on my 2010 Sahara. This is strictly for appearance and am wondering if I do this, will there be enough clearance to install 18" XD775 Rims with 315/65/R18 tires? Any guidance would be great.

Thanks

Bill

Stick with a 1"-1.25" BL and pair it with a 1.5"- 2" suspension lift.

This
Rough Country makes a 1.25" body lift. Check them out.
I own one, but have never installed it (much to SLADE's angst...haha!)

Read this thread, SLADE makes many good points about using a Body Lift: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f96/body-lift-suspension-lift-both-3136833/
Unlike the TJ, body lifts really don't give you much with the JK, because there's frame rails over everything you'd want to tuck higher like the gas tank or transfer case. I'm running 35's with a 2" suspension spacer lift and Bushwhacker flat fenders and a bit of sawzall trimming at the back. Be aware you'll need to chop off the ends of the OEM bumper or go to an aftermarket bumper to clear 35's, they tuck the ends of those bumpers really close to the OEM 32" Rubicon tires supposedly to keep pedestrians from getting sucked in .

You have your suspension already tuned in for your tires with the flat flares and have plenty of height(we are about the same lift height). Not sure how much a BL would help you at this point unless you were going to rework a few things and make some changes.

It would be interesting to see if you could get any benefits from a body lift at this point or how you could incorporate one into to current build. Would probably depend on if it would help you match your bump stops to your shocks or shocks to coils.
I do not have any plans to install the BL. The Jeep is set up just fine for me the way it is now.

I bought the BL at the same time I bought the suspension lift. Once I installed the lift, I realized that I did not need the BL. It may give some extra clearance, but I really do not care to go through the effort of installing it.

I originally did the same when I put on my Teraflex BB and I liked the combo. The install was real easy, took less than an hour. Since I've added my 3" springs and 3/4" spacers up front + the flat fenders, I really have no need for the BL. Personally I think it'd look better without it now. But, it's on there with no upside to removing it besides aesthetics.

LOL I told you that lift was going to give you more than what you were expecting! And no you don't need a BL. That thing sits perfect!

Bill, for this wheel and tire setup, I would not suggest a BL. We can do one but I would look at doing a leveling kit:

TF also makes a nice BL IF you want one. I would not go 2" at all!

Let us know if we can help. We also have a forum discount!

Whats nice about it?

Small pucks, no rear bumper or shifter brackets all for $65 more than Rough Country's....
No BL expert here but it looks like RC and Teraflex take different approaches to the lift. I would say the TF looks much easier to install than the RC. I couldn't say which method of lifting spacer would be better. Teraflex does point out that theirs is not compatible with the manual transmission.
