We at 4LowParts had the opportunity to install the 1st VANCO DUAL Mode 15"/16″ Big Brake Kit w/Black Magic Brake Pads and RCV axles!

1st step is to obviously do away with the puny stock stuff!


I took them down to a bare inner C. While this is not necessary, it is a great opportunity to change ball-joints if yours are in need of replacement. We chose to change them to new Spicer ball joints.



Without further delay......here is the part that makes this all come together! These are the NEW MADE IN USA Dual Mode knuckles for the 15"/16" Big Brake kits!!

Now, lets get those RCV axles in there!

Boot fits perfectly through there (it doesn't have to obviously) but just to show.


I chose to do it this way just to know it could be done. Otherwise holding the boot behind the knuckle works too.








Like a glove!!! Now you can install the dust shield, and I chose to use NEW Timken unit bearings, if yours are fine..no need to do this!




The RCV's fit PERFECT!!

And of course the BRAKES!







Now, here is where this gets cool!! This is the 16" BBK, so you install the caliper saddle in the rear-most dual mode holes on the new knuckle!!



Now get the abutment clips and BLACK MAGIC brake pads in there!!



Perfect fit and alignment, the way it should be!!


NOW time for the NEW! not re-manufactured corrosion resistant Zinc Plated 48mm dual piston Calipers!!








And finally, after connecting the brake lines and double checking everything....BAM...a beautiful combo!

This is very cool...not on my immediate mod list but definitely in the near future this setup is ideal

Nothing wrong with hanging the caliper by the brake line even if all being reused.

2) The new knuckles look beefier/stronger than the stock knuckles. Is that the case?

3) I assume the 16" brake package requires 16" wheels and won't work with 15" Allied beadlocks?

1) Will the new knuckles work with a Dynatrac Pro Rock 44 & RCVs? As long as the Inner C is the "stock" size, then yes (most of them are, but only you and Dynatrac know your axle specs. I would say it is safe to assume so if you can buy off the shelf stock size ball-joints, wheel bearings and current replacement brake parts)

2) The new knuckles look beefier/stronger than the stock knuckles. Is that the case? The new knuckles are high strength nodular iron, spec to oem tolerances, with the new dual mode features.

3) I assume the 16" brake package requires 16" wheels and won't work with 15" Allied beadlocks? The COOL thing about this kit is that you can order it without rotors. You mount the caliper up and then test fit your wheel. If it fits in the 16" location knuckle hole, perfect, order the 16" kit rotors. If it doesn't, get the 15" kit rotors and move the calipers to the forward hole. The only difference in the 15" and 16" kit is the rotor size!

About 2g's if you get the brake/rcv combo but I think if you click on their website their is some special limited time rebate available. I'm not sure if that's factored into the price that I got when choosing my combo or if they add the discount later

so that includes the rcv shafts, big brake kit and rotors and pads?! that's not too bad at all.....thought it would make me lighter lol

$1050 for just the BBK, if you get BBK & RCVs there is a $200 off code so ~$1900 for the combo.

Probably just an error in the code. The kits are the same price since the only difference is the minor cost difference in the rotors.

Also, don't forget that not everyone wants or needs RCV's so the old kits aren't going away which means you can still sell the take-off knuckles to us for 100 bucks shipped.

I've never not hung them by the flex line unless it's stainless steel braid and it hangs in such a way that tries to kink the hose and then I'll hang it by the caliper.
