AW4 Overdrive problem

1281 6
I have a 2001 XJ, my overdrive problem is slightly different than others I read so far...

My xj is able to shift into overdrive every alternate start. If I have overdrive this trip, once I turn off the xj and restart it, I have no overdrive. I have to pull over, put it in park, turn off the jeep, then turn it back on to have overdrive. (just by putting it in park / neutral without turning it off doesn't do the trick.) I already clean the NSS couple times, I also adjust the shift cable. What else I can try?

scan for codes - post ALL codes someone will advise. Especially if light is off.
Any other issues - anything?

Is there a remote starter?

Thanks for the response. I assume if there is any corrosion issue on the TCU connector, its likely from the engine bay because the unit is concealed and protected under the dash behind the firewall?

Also, is the TCU connector same between Renix vs 2001? I can only find pictures of its location from Renix..

No remote starter. Here is a laundry list: :grin2: (amazingly still no engine light!)

P0443 - Purge Solenoid
P0135 - O2 Sensor
P0141 - O2 Sensor
P0155 - O2 Sensor
P0165 - O2 Sensor
P0130 - missing fuse #10
P0136 - Shorted O2
P0456 - PUAP rubber hose leak ?
P0705 - (TCM) wiring

I assume P0705 is the suspect cruiser54 mentioned about?

Clean the under hood connectors and the TCU connector.

Your TCU is located in a different place than the rEnix one.
