I just purchased a 2022 JL...not sure about this Auto Stop function.

I think I'm missing something, It seems it doesn't engage when you have AC on, but sometimes even when I have the AC on low it does work at times and sometimes it doesn't.

Am I missing why this happens?

Is it faulty that it works sometime with the AC on low or is there a way to enable it to do this and I'm missing how this happens?

Thanks

As i underatand it...ESS is disabled with Max AC, otherwise, it depends in the interior temp parameters.(as far as HVAC goes)

There are over a dozen conditions that will cause the ESS to not work, including if the cabin temp has not reached the setpoint.

  • Driver’s seat belt is not buckled.
  • Driver’s door is not closed.
  • Battery temperature is too warm or cold.
  • Battery charge is low.
  • The vehicle is on a steep grade.
  • Cabin heating or cooling is in process and an acceptable cabin temperature has not been achieved.
  • HVAC is set to full defrost mode at a high blower speed.
  • HVAC set to MAX A/C.
  • Engine has not reached normal operating temperature.
  • Engine temperature too high.
  • The transmission is not in a forward gear.
  • Hood is open.
  • Transfer case is in 4L or Neutral.
  • Brake pedal is not pressed with sufficient pressure.
  • Accelerator pedal input.
  • Vehicle speed threshold not achieved from previous auto-stop.
  • Steering angle beyond threshold. (ESS Models Only)
  • ACC is on and speed is set.
  • Vehicle is at high altitude.
  • System fault present.

Thank you so much. This all makes sense and is a great answer.

There's even more conditions if you have a Manual Transmission

  • Clutch is Not Depressed
  • Transmission is Not in any gear
  • Brake does not have to be depressed, provided the vehicle is on a perfectly level surface
